John Fahl, 77, Dies After Brief Illness in Denver
John Fahl died December 22, 1918 at his Denver home after a nine day illness. Born July 6, 1841 in Huntington Co. Ind., he married Catherine Ann Leo in 1871 and had four children, one son preceding him. He later wed Mrs. Sarah A. Dewald in 1907. Survived by wife, son William Albert of Kansas City Kansas, daughters Emma J. Ludders and Etna M. Sarver, ten grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters, and many relatives. He joined the Reformed Church at eighteen and remained faithful.

John Fahl, a respected Union township pioneer, died Sunday at his Washington Street home in Denver after a week of illness from influenza. He was 77 and had lived on a farm north of Weasaw before moving to Denver four years ago. Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion Church with Rev. Fisher and Rev. Myers officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Zion cemetery.

Farm Home Burns On C. B. Stockdale Farm West Of Denver
The tenant dwelling on the C B Stockdale farm two miles west of Denver burned early Saturday. Fire likely started from a defective flue and quickly gutted the attic and upper front of the one and a half story house. William Runkle and family were at breakfast when flames were seen. neighbors helped save lower furniture though clothing bedding and winter provisions were lost. Insurance covered parts of the dwelling and goods. Stockdale plans to rebuild at once and the Runkles will stay with relatives while seeking a new place nearby.
