Election of Officers at Sunday School Board Meeting

The Sunday school board of the Deier M D Church met at 6 30 o clock Sunday evening and elected officers for the coming year. C B Stockdale was named Superintendent Elvin Long Assistant Superintendent Florence Armstrong Secretary Florence Armstrong was listed as assistant secretary and pianist Pearl Smith. Mrs Russell Long heads the Primary Dept. Mrs F D Guinn leads Home Dept. Mrs George Sturgeon Superintendant Gradle Roll Mrs Elbert See Superintendant Miss Dept Mrs William Carson Treasurer Miss Ina Fouts Enrollment Secretary Lee Long Librarian Beth Powell and Miss Dubois named as assistants.

County Schools Set Examinations Before Christmas Break

The first half year exams will be held in all county schools on Wednesday and Thursday December 22 and 23. Exams shift a day later to avoid Christmas Day interference, with dismissal for holiday vacation on Friday afternoon and schools resuming after New Year Day.

John G Cornell Dies After Lingering Illness

John G Cornell died Tuesday morning at Longcliff hospital near Logansport after a lingering illness. His widow Nellie Cornell and mother Mary Cornell survived him. A funeral was held at the Denver Brethren church at 1 30 Thursday with burial in Skinner’s Chapel cemetery. He leaves one son Jay Cornell of Denver. He had worked as a thresh erman sale crier and farmer near Perrysburg, later moving to Prater where he spent his last years in frail health.

Mrs Carl Elliott Dies in Chili After Illness

Mrs Carl Elliott died at her home in Chili on Wednesday evening December 8 after a brief illness from kidney and bladder trouble. She had been in frail health since June following a hospital operation in Logansport. She leaves a husband, three children, her father William Odum of Peru, and numerous relatives. Funeral services were at 2 pm at the Chili Methodist Church conducted by Rev H W Park, with interment in Chili Cemetery.

Skinner Hoehue Wedding in Walton Indiana

Miss Nellie Skinner daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Skinner of Twelve Mile wed Paul Hoehn at the Walton Indiana parsonage on Wednesday December 8 at 3 00 pm Reverend Thomas officiated. Guests included Mr and Mrs Hugh Skinner and son and Miss Mary Hoehue. The couple later dined with eighteen guests and began receiving congratulations from relatives and friends.

Institute schedule outlines December 18 teachers' sessions

County superintendent E L Powell has announced the joint township teachers institute to be held at Peru high school on December 18. Charles W Whitman of Seymour will deliver the principal address with morning topic The Teacher and His Task and afternoon topic Our Debtor ship to the Pilgrims. Opening exercises will be conducted by Rev G G Carpenter pastor of the Brethren church.

Bismarck Youth Visits Miami Foster Parents

Clarence R. Jones of Bismarck N D is visiting his foster parents Mr and Mrs Burton-Green in Miami County this week. Jones reared in the county by the Greens and now serves as assistant at City National Bank in Bismarck after residing there the past three years. He is described as a Republican.

Mrs. Eliza Fennimore Enters Warren Old Folks Home
