Skinner Completes Submarine Service Training
William Taylor Skinner, 18, son of Mrs. Susan E. Skinner of Hillsboro, completed basic training at the Submarine School, Submarine Base, New London, Conn., for duty with the submarine fleet. He earned a future insignia after submarine experience and qualification, was a May 1942 graduate of Tri County High in Queen Anne, Md., and joined the Navy last December after recruit training at Sampson, New York.

Service record of 29th SSG Philip Hague in World War II
The 29th Staff Sergeant Philip E. Hague of Rock Hall Maryland served with the Medical Detachment after the National Guard left Chester in February 1941. He trained at several stateside camps and Fitzsimmons General Hospital Denver before going overseas in October 1942. He landed in England, joined the D-Day invasion, and took part in the France invasion with the 29th Division Medical Detachment. He is married to Helen Ireland, who now resides near Denton with her parents.

James Milford Davis a Preston tavern proprietor aged 38 died after a shooting on Preston main street. Howard Hubbard 47 faces first degree murder charges.
