Wallakazoo Camp At Conquest Beach Slated Oct 1 2

Tri County Boy Scouts from Talbot Caroline and Queen Anne’s Counties plan the Wallakazoo encampment at Conquest Beach near Centreville on Saturday and Sunday October 1 and 2. L H Fleming chairs the district camping committee and O Dale Pittinger directs the campfire with Sam Cannon attending from WCEM. Attendance expected 150 to 200. parents and the public invited to Saturday night events including a secret big event and a New England clambake followed by Sunday services and activities.

Girl Scout Outing at Camp Todd Honors Local Scout

Girl Scouts and Brownies from Denton and families met for a picnic at Camp Todd last Friday September 16. Car ol Ann Love received her 1st Class Badge from Mrs Walter Kerslake, with praise for her Troop work. Neighborhood Association announces leaders and meeting places for the coming year with most troops meeting at 3 30 p m at various locations including Fellowship Hall First Methodist and Community Club. The association will meet at Mrs K T Everagin’s home next Monday September 26 at 8 p m with members urged to attend.

About 450 patron members and families attended the Southern States Cooperative annual meeting at Caroline High School auditorium on Tuesday evening September 20. The event featured a ham supper talent show and director elections with new officers and delegates named.

The Greensboro Lions Club will face the Greensboro Girls Softball Champions at Lions Baseball Park in Greensboro on Tuesday evening September 27 at 6 PM DST. Proceeds aid the athletic program as readers recall two prior games including a 24 to 10 loss by the champs without star Ann Pippin.

Maryland Teachers Convention To Be Held Oct 20 22

The Maryland State Teachers Association plans the largest state convention in Baltimore from October 20 to 22. Over 14,000 teachers are expected to attend demonstrations and exhibits on updated teaching materials and methods. Governor G Mennen Williams will speak at the opening session, with Ethel Alpenfels and Billie Davis also delivering talks. The event includes 51 meetings in various subject areas and performances by the Wicomico Band, All-Maryland Chorus, and All-Maryland Orchestra led by noted conductors.

The WSCS of First Methodist Denton marks its 15th anniversary with a supper on Tuesday evening Sept 27 at 6 30 in Fellowship Hall. Thirty attendees heard University of Maryland extension specialist Jeanne S Modin discuss how parental attitudes shape children during a Farm Home Life program sponsored by Caro line County Homemakers at Camp Mardela last Thursday. A film Preface to Life was shown and the next session on Living With The Teen Ager is set for November 1 at the Caroline County Health Department in Denton with film The Age of Turmoil. The Rural Women’s Short Course Club dinner preceded a demonstration ballet by Rosemary Pimm and two pupils. Officers elected included Kennard Holden as president and Rebecca Voshell as vice president with William Cooper secretary and Herbert Craft treasurer.

The Denton P T A membership drive begins this week with a goal of 100 percent parent and teacher membership.
