The Eastern Shore Soccer League will meet Friday evening to elect officers adopt by laws and outline plans for the coming season. Attendees expected include Tom Connelly and Millard Lang with six clubs present last week and Kent Island invited to join. A nominating committee led by Linden Duffy proposed officers and a three member by law committee. referees welcome for affiliation. Tentative opener set for October 10 with a Denton Soccer Club meeting Monday night for interested players.

Miss Charlotte Lois Stafford of Denton will graduate from the School of Nursing at Union Memorial Hospital Baltimore on September 23. An outstanding student she has been editor of The Lamplighter for two years. She studied pre nursing at State Teachers College Salisbury after Caroline High School 1944 and will begin as a science teacher at Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

Greensboro and Camden-Wyoming opened the Mar Del League semi finals with wins over Rock Hall and Chestertown. Camden-Wyoming beat injury hampered Chester town 11 to 4 as Charley McCullough pitched well for the pennant winners. Rickards of American Airlines, a DC 6 captain and Overseas Flying instructor, is granted a two and a half month leave to work for the Arabian American Oil Company in Persia and at New York LaGuardia. Two parcels of real estate were sold at auction at the courthouse door. The 80 acre farm near Piney Church between Denton and Greensboro, owned by Bella M. Anthony, widow of Arthur A. Anthony, was bought by Olin Griffith for $4,000. A Hillsboro house and lot along the Hillsboro to Denton highway was bought by Adaline Flamer for $1,550.
