Rumors of a Denton east bypass linking Greensboro highway to a southbound route from Andersontown to ward Federalsburg were denied by Emmett Hignutt, head of Caroline County Commissioners. The state Roads Commission prioritizes city to seashore improvements, while a gravel surface will upgrade the two mile Hobbs to Andersontown road. The Eastern Shore Public Service Company once supplied current to farms along the dirt route known as No Man's Land, and the Willow Bridge spans a meadow near the old colony site razed in 1877.

The Delaware State Volunteer Firemen's Association held its annual convention in Harrington over two days. Delegates noted newly paved streets flags and banners with a parade Thursday night at 7 pm featuring 27 fire companies 14 bands 3 drum and bugle corps and eight auxiliaries from the Delmarva Peninsula.

John W. Logan announces Williston Lake is available for Denton District Boy Scouts Cub Scouts Advanced Scouts and Girl Scouts. Rotary members raised about 200 for improvements including a rustic entrance water front and dressing rooms. Lake use extends to Denton Recreation Association next summer.

Date Change for Fat Hog Show at Queenstown
The seventh semi annual Eastern Shore fat hog show on sale is moved to October 18 at 10 a.m. in Queenstown. Francis M. Rogers of Caroline County reports about thirty 4 H and Future Farmers of America members from six counties will exhibit 100 hogs. Maryland University animal husbandry head M H Kerr will judge and award prizes as meat packers' buyers begin at 1 p.m. The previous spring auction yielded $4 381 39 from 97 hogs. champion hog fetched 80 cents a pound. J Walter Eby of Queen Anne's County chairs the event.

C E Roberts represented Caro line County at the Del Mar Va Council Boy Scouts of America Planning Conference at Salisbury Teachers College on Sunday September 11. The session ran 3 to 9 30 p m with a 6 30 p m supper. Plans for the next 18 months were adopted. Roberts chairs the Tri County Leadership Training Committee and announces a University of Scouting at Salisbury State Teachers College on October 23 and November 6. Last spring over 200 men received training. more are expected. Also note Denton Community Club opens fall season September 16 at 1 30 p m with a covered dish luncheon.

Railroad Bridge Contract Awarded
The State Roads Commission awarded the contract to George and Lynch of Wilmington to build a bridge for the Oxford Branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad over the Queen Anne Hillsboro Highway Bypass. The project includes grading and paving with a cost authorization of 128,146 dollars. The rest of the by-pass is under a separate contract.

The Greensboro A A team beat Chestertown 7 4 to secure third place after a seven game win streak. Jack Ketrik earned the win with a long shutout spell until the ninth, while Greensboro scored in the first, fourth, sixth and eighth innings. Chestertown pushed two in the third and final tally in the ninth before Hummell ended the game. Greensboro hosts Rock Hall in the semi finals opener.
