Eighteen members of the Marydel Volunteer Fire Company completed the firemen’s basic training course sponsored by the University of Maryland extension department. A banquet in the Marydel community hall honored the graduates with certificates presented by Curtis Larimore. Local instructor Paul Smith led the course and Jerome Frampton Jr. acted as toastmaster. Guests included George Mayer Jr. of Easton Fire Department and Warren Pettyjohn with John M. Ree representing the Kent County Firemen’s Association.

Dentonians Plan Five-Game Series With Centreville Club
Dentonians announce a five game series with Centreville, opening with a double header at Centreville park this Sunday at 1 30. A second double header will be staged here on September 21 with the fifth game at the park of the team with the most runs in the four prior games. Manager Cole asks local players to meet at 12 30 and fans to join for transportation and coordination as the season begins. Dentonians then trounced DuPont 8 to 7 in Seaford last Sunday in a clash marked by thirteen misplays and a tense late rally led by Henry Lucas who earned his 10th win.
