Tech. Sergeant Joseph A. Adams reports five August enlistments across the Army and Air Force. Gene A. Smith and Marylang Roy of Greensboro join the Army for three years and go to Ft George G Meade for processing. Deshields of Easton and Collins of Newcomb enlist in the Air Force for four years, with Deshields to Lackland Texas and Collins to Sampson New York for indoctrination. Catherine Gibson Sherwood of Easton joins the Wacs for three years and trains at Ft Lee Virginia. Adams notes a drive for Office Candidate School with requirements including high school graduation age at least nineteen and strong qualifications. Funeral services are set for Dr. George W. Crabbe a longtime Anti Saloon League leader who died at 76 after months of illness. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at 2901 Mount Holly street Baltimore, with a second service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lukens Funeral Home London Ohio and burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Crabbe steered anti liquor efforts for decades including tenure as Maryland league head and executive secretary of the national Anti Saloon League later Temperance League.

Fire Destroys Two Barns On Zeigler Farm
Two barns burned Saturday on the Frank Zeigler farm with about 50 tons of hay and a silo filler destroyed. Zeigler suspects the silo filler in use at the time started the blaze. Insurance partly covers the loss. Denton and Greensboro Volunteer Fire Companies with four pieces of equipment stopped the flames from spreading to other buildings.
