Pvt Charles Trice a cook with the tank company of the 223rd Infantry Regiment served six months with the 40th division before joining Japan duty. He trained at Camp Cooke, rejoined his unit, and described five weeks in the field as rough. The regiment trains for regimental combat teams and plans to move to an unknown location September 1. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Roland Trice of Federalsburg.

Mrs Elizabeth Stutzer 81 died at her daughter’s home near Ridgely after a year and a half as an invalid. Born in New York City in 1870, she leaves daughters Agnes Miller of North Bergen and Mrs Mary Bjorlund of Ridgely, and sons Frederick Allan of Ramsey and James Allan of Jersey City. She lived with Mrs Bjorlund for over a year, sustained by Christian faith. Funeral services were at Moore Funeral Home with Rev E I Sherry, burial in Denton Cemetery.
