Denton Girl Scouts Observe National Week Activities

Denton Girl Scouts will celebrate National Girl Scout Week with a full program from October 31. Troops will join an evening service at First Methodist Church and attend PTA and Rotary Club events, with meetings Wednesday and Thursday. A 11:30 AM Thursday Ted Malone broadcast on Scouts will be aired, and a Saturday bake sale at Carville Fleetwood Hardware will feature nationally packaged cookies. Brownies and Intermediates meet weekly under leaders guiding girls toward future adult life.

Maryland Mortmain Amendment Urged By State Bar

Voters are urged to approve a constitutional amendment in Maryland addressing the consent of the General Assembly to gifts and bequests for religious purposes. The proposal aims to avoid delays in estate settlements when a bequest occurs near legislative adjournment. Endorsed by the Maryland State Bar Association and leaders of both major parties.

Field Trials To Be Held Next Sunday

Coon dog field trials sponsored by the Eastern Shore Coon Hunters Association will be held Sunday Oct 31 at William Wiltbank's Farm three miles north of Chestertown on Route 213. Health Association Hears Plan for Caroline County Clinic

The Caroline County Health Association met at Denton High School on October 21 seeking federal aid to build a new central health office. A $2 county contribution would attract $1 from the Hospital Construction Law, with a committee to study sites costs and size by January 1949. Dr. Robert H. Riley led an informally panel on health department work, noting 3,000 nurse home visits in 1948 and 22 to 25 monthly clinics.

Denton and Ridgely Tie 4-4 in Sunday Soccer Tilt

Eastern Shore League results report a 4-4 draw between Denton and Ridgely at Schaub Park as two hundred fans watched rain fall. Denton erased a two-goal deficit in the final ten minutes with goals from Smith, Ireland, Seaman, and Rampmeyer to share points.

Clean-Up Program To Be Continued in Denton

Denton extends the town clean-up week from October 25 to November 1 with a work crew and a town truck to remove bulky trash not covered by the regular street cleaner. Residents are urged to cooperate, place items at usual garbage spots, and use containers for leaves. the service is free.

Ree Attends National Frozen Food Locker Convention

Mr. G. H. Rue of Shadowlawn Frozen Food Lockers Denton left Saturday for Chicago to attend the ninth annual convention of the National Frozen Food Locker Association at the Sherman Hotel Monday through Thursday. Don McNeill's Breakfast Club will be broadcast for the association from 9 a m Tuesday through Thursday mornings. Also attending were Mr. Barnes Pocomoke City locker plant and Mr. W. S. Ledbetter Howard Co Coop Lockers with an employee from Ellicott City and Mr. F M Hawkins Jr Olney Locker plant. Ledbetter is president and Rue is vice president of the Maryland Locker association. The trip was by car.

The Bob Cats will host an exhibition game against Cen treville at the Armory tonight at 8 30 PM. The event features the local team in a regional display and aims to showcase players and strategies in a friendly competitive setting.

Denton plans a Halloween party on Saturday the 30th for children of all ages. Citizens clubs sponsor a masked parade from the Fire House at 7:30 led by the Firemen's band to the armory for games dancing and costume judging with cash prizes. Free armory admission for masked attendees.
