A southbound Pennsylvania Railroad express struck a mobile carrying seven returning from a roller skating party near Dover killing Thelma O Day Louise Joseph both 17 and William Britton Evans Jr 22 at 12 18 Monday morning on Main Street Greenwood Del The three were among seven in two cars with four others surviving Thelma and Louise were Greenwood High seniors Joyce O Day Irma Hammond Chas M Wyatt and Chas Ingram were from nearby Milford ages 16 to 19 The group had stopped for a bite after skating and were headed home Police said the crash occurred as the train hit the center of the right side of the Evans auto.

Denton Jr Auxiliary Holds October Meeting at Home

The Denton Unit of Memorial Hospital Junior Auxiliary met October 25 at Mrs. Philip E. Nuttle’s home. Reports from the bake sale on October 22 were given by chairwoman Mrs. Carlton Mandrell. The group plans a rentable musical birthday plate and continues broom sales. The year’s project is toy crib bags for the hospital Children’s ward, with work starting once material is found. Refreshments were served by the hostesses.

Adult Education Program Offered in Caroline County

The Caroline County Board of Education announces possible evening classes for residents sixteen and older not in day school. Courses include typing, bookkeeping, languages, home management, arts, sciences, and more. Classes require at least twenty enrolled, meet ten to twenty four times, two hours per session, with a small material fee and registration. Interested individuals should contact their local high school principal or Mr. Fred Asilton in Denton.
