Denton to hold a large Hallowe'en celebration on October 31 with co sponsors the Chamber of Commerce the Volunteer Fire Company and the Ladies Auxiliary. A 7 30 p m costume parade will start at the fire house travel through town and finish at the Town Parking lot. Judges will pick winners. A dance for teens with live orchestra follows in the fire hall while younger children enjoy an outdoor stage on the parking lot with refreshments.

Mrs J Kemp Stevens Succumbs In Caroline County
Mrs. Mary Ethel Stevens a longtime Caroline County resident died last Saturday at age 74 after a long illness. Born February 8 1883 in Queen Annes County she moved to Caroline in childhood and excelled in music. She taught in public schools directed music at Salisbury State Teachers College and served as organist at Christ Episcopal Church Denton. She was active in the Democratic Party and later a business representative for Equitable Life Assurance. Survivors include brother Stephen Russell Anderson and half brother Lee Anderson and niece Mrs Judson Morgan.

An official count after Revision Day on Tuesday October 16 shows more than 700 new voters added to Caroline County registration this year bringing total registrants to about 9 400. Democrats lead with 6 052 members to 3 100 Republicans across districts with the Fifth Federalsburg district showing 90 Democrats and 79 Republicans the largest gains by Republicans coming in the Second Fourth and Fifth while Democrats hold a strong lead in the First Third Sixth Seventh and Eighth districts with 362 Democrat and 243 Republican new registrations.
