Man Dies In Fire Destroying Home Near Concord
Hayward Satterfield a 68 year old laborer and handyman was burned to death when his cottage burned near Concord eight miles south of here. Denton volunteer firemen could not enter the house but recovered his pets Sidney two cats and some chickens and ducks. Pocket books found in the ruins contained money turned over to authorities and banked for safekeeping. Most of the money over 1 000 will be redeemed after Treasury counting. Satterfield known as Zoe had kept cash at home and lived alone for nine years. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon as the body was burned beyond recognition. Origin of the fire not yet determined. He leaves a sister Mrs Letitia Stanford.

Car Strikes 500 Pound Heifer In Greensboro Roadways
An automobile driven by Jas G Murphy of Greensboro hit a 900 pound heifer on Whiteleysburg Road as it walked onto the road. Damage to the car is estimated at 500 dollars and charges were filed against N Martin Adams for failing to give a hand signal and John E Hollingsworth for speed. A collision between Hollingsworth and Adams caused further damage. A separate hit and run on Sour Apple Tree Williston Road involved a centaur mower owned by the State Roads Commission and a pickup. the mower operator James E Cole of Ridgely was unaffected. The truck was found about 45 minutes later at Williston.
