Weather and crop conditions show heavy rainfall without harvest progress

A mild wet week with mean temperatures above normal and four days of heavy rain, including a major flood in the Potomac. Weekly rainfall ranged from 3.29 to 7.28 inches across locations like Chewsville Keedysville Joppatown Western Port and Dundalk. Crops and pastures grew well though field work lagged. late potatoes and soybeans advanced, apples were large in Easton and Sharpsburg, and tobacco stripping began at La Plata.

Truck Registration Ends Today in Denton Armory

All truck owners with two or fewer trucks used 51 percent or more for hauling agricultural goods must report to the Denton Armory between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. to complete the War Necessity certificate application. Bring registration numbers, tire size and condition, trips and mileage for 1941 quarters three and four of 1942, and estimates for early 1943. Volunteers will assist.
