Wheat rye and barley sowing continues in northern central areas. early grains 1 to 2 inches tall. Corn cutting ongoing, Newark 99 percent harvested. yields vary from average to excellent across towns. Silos filling, tomatoes picked, potatoes digging underway with mixed yields. sweet potatoes, beans, and hay in progress. Tobacco curing in barns, apples and pears being picked, apple crops strong in several towns, scarce York apples at Highland. Help is scarce and farm conditions mixed across districts.

Dr. E. Paul Knotts of Denton is appointed by Governor Hebert R. O’Connor to the University of Maryland Board of Regents, filling the unexpired term of Dr. W. W. Skinner.
