Circuit Court Disposes Of Several Cases Here
During the October Term the Circuit Court for Caroline County acquitted Oscar Franklin Porter of Goldsboro on a charge involving stolen goods. In the same week, two defendants received probation without verdict after guilty pleas for breaking and entering and for receiving money under false pretenses. The second week highlighted illegal alcoholic beverage sales with multiple trials and convictions, including Preston Thomas Holmes of Bowlingly Maryland for sale and possession near Federalsburg, and Ellis Jones of Denton in two cases of unlawful alcohol sales. Other defendants faced bond forfeiture or postponed trials, with ongoing cases including a murder charge against Lawrence Wortham of Baltimore and a recipient of funds by false pretenses, Clarence Corbett Lloyd.
