The Women of Christ Episcopal Church met in the Parish House on Oct. 5 with Mrs. Harry R. Hughes presiding. Plans for a busy fall schedule included a luncheon for the Democratic Women's Club and hosting the Middle Convocation of the Diocese of Easton on Oct. 27. Luncheon duties were assigned to Mrs. C. P. Merrick Jr and Mrs. Dorsey Donoho, with further luncheons planned for Nov. 7 and Nov. 12. The group discussed the United Thank Offering, heard a report from Miss Georgette Kilmer on Hood College, and outlined Supply Department work benefiting the Appalachian Boarding School, American Episcopal Home in Panama, and St Andrews Chapel in the Virgin Islands. Community social hour followed the meeting chaired by Mrs. John W. Logan and others.

4-H Older Youth Meeting Held In Denton Last Week
The Caroline County 4-H Older Youth group met on Thursday October 6 in Denton to elect officers and plan events. Officers elected were Elrick Quillen president Sarah Lane vice president Dorothy Stirn secretary and Louis Fuchs treasurer. Members discussed the 1961 program theme Health and Recreation and planned a November 5 day meeting at Camp Mardela. Richard Edwards will attend the Four-State Older Youth Conference in Jackson Mills W Va October 14 15 and 16. Lane and Quillen will attend the 4-H Advisors meeting in College Park October 22 to plan the Citizenship Tour and a January 1961 Older Youth meeting in Baltimore. The meeting closed with a film Water For Country and City in observance of Maryland Land Week.

Firemen Busy Weekend With Barn Fire Near Hobbs
A large barn on Rol and Corkell’s farm near Hobbs was destroyed by an undetermined fire on Saturday Oct 8. Firefighters from Denton Greensboro Ridgely and Queen Anne Volunteer Fire Companies with a Soil Conservation bulldozer fought the blaze and saved surrounding structures, on site until 5 p m. A separate Sunday alarm reported a fire totalling a house trailer on the Denton Greensboro Road owned by Frank Crane.
