Bridgetown Methodist Church in Bridgetown prepares for its 166th anniversary on Sunday at 3:00 p m. The event honors a long history dating to 1640 with continuous Methodist possession since 1778. Rev E C Hallman will deliver the address as services repeat the tradition since 1773.

Mrs Betty Green Walls of Ridgely received War Department notice that Corporal M Clifton Walls United States Army was killed in action on September 4 in Plougneau France. Wallis entered service November 1942 and was 37. Survived by widow, father Eben Walls of Maryland, and several brothers and sisters including Charles in England.

O Conor Presents Flag For Caroline County Service Men
Walter Rutter and William S. Orme traveled to Baltimore to accept a flag presented by Governor Herbert R. O Conor in honor of all Caroline County service men. The flag measures 48 by 72 inches and will be unfurled at the courthouse with Caroline County and Presented by honorable Herbert R. O Conor inscribed. Names of 1296 men appear on the county router plaque on the Courthouse Green, with others noted as entered the service.

Veteran Sailor Visits Preston Home On Furlough
Charles Edward Benson, C.E.M., U S Navy, arrives home in Preston after two years in the South Pacific. He served as chief electrician's mate with the SeaBees in the Solomon Islands and earned a fourragere and several bars and decorations. Benson plans to report for duty on Armistice Day at Camp Endicott Rhode Island and hopes to return to the Veterans Hospital at Fort Howard Baltimore after the war. He is a nephew of Rear Admiral Creighton Carmine and grandson of Captain Charles Carmine of Poplar Grove Farm.

Dental Officer Edward Van decrift Joins Army Dental Corps
First Lieutenant Edward W. Van decrift of the U S Army Dental Corps, son of Greensboro residents Mr and Mrs E J Vandegrift, entered service January 31 1944 after earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Maryland in 1913. Missing after river plunge near Denton
Two persons remain missing after an automobile plunged into the Tucka hoe River at New Bridge six miles west of Denton early Wednesday. Thelma Yeatman 20 Easton and Charles C Groh 21 Navy cook are presumed lost despite daytime grappling. James Yeatman 21 survived the submerged car and reported the trio were inside. The car was recovered but no trace of the missing was found. A large bridge railing was broken. The span links Caroline and Talbot counties.
