Military Wedding At Naval Air Station New Orleans

In a double ring ceremony at the chapel of the United States Naval Air Station New Orleans Miss Dorothy E. Robertson daughter of Mrs Mattie D Robertson Cumberland Md married Mr Edwin E Gelletly son of Mrs Tryphena Gelletly and the late Mr A G Gelletly of Denton The ceremony was officiated by Chaplain Fulton USNR The attendants wore white dress uniforms and the couple celebrated with a dinner at Aurnauds and a La Lune Club reception The bride a WAVe SKD third class and the groom a Naval Reserve Instructor both are stationed in New Orleans with Gelletly awaiting a new assignment

Plans Outlines For W Gas Ration Forms

The Office of Price Administration outlines how to obtain the new A gas line ration books set for use November 9 in Maryland excluding Baltimore city. In Harford county forms are available at filling stations and not mailed. new books will be issued October 20 at schools. Non residents must apply in home states. The program seeks volunteers to handle increased workload.

Army P O corporal Martin serves in multiple camps

Cpl David H. Martin son of Mr and Mrs W T Martin of Denton is assigned to Camp Ellis Illinois after two years in the army. He previously served sixteen months at Camp Pickett in the Post Office and eight months at Camp Meade before his current duty at Camp Ellis in the Post Office.

War Fund Goal Set For Caroline County Illinois?

Caroline County's quota of 11500 for the National War Fund campaign opened Wednesday and has been apportioned among Denton Federalsburg Greensboro Ridgely Hillsboro Marydel Henderson Goldsboro and local groups. Twenty two organizations including U S CO aid to prisoners of war and the Children's Aid Society of Maryland and Boy Scouts will share in the fund.

November 7 Tag Day supports Caroline County Nurses' Board

The Caroline County Nurses' Board hosts Tag Day on Election Day November 7 to fund essential health services. Dairy Association Reports Results for September

The Caroline Dairy Herd Improvement Association reports September totals: 472 cows in herds, 127 dry, 345 in milk. Month production 219,787 pounds milk and 9,325.4 pounds butterfat. Average per cow 466 pounds milk and 19.8 pounds butterfat. Five High Herds list Maurice Adams Denton and others with top averages. Ten High Cows include Vashell Bros Preston and multiple Ridgely Federalsburg entries with high milk and fat figures.

Anniversary Service At Burrsville Church

The 72nd anniversary of Wesley Methodist Church near Burrsville will be celebrated with homecoming services at 10 30 a m and 2 30 p m. Rev Frank McCorkle will lead, assisted by Rev E S Graham Rev J T Bailey Rev T S Dixon and Rev John E French. Homer Thomas will direct the musical program. Back On Duty James Fleming Enlists in Naval Reserve

James Ralph Fleming son of Mr and Mrs Dillon Fleming of Goldsboro Maryland and Greensboro High School graduate enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve on June 18 1941. After training he shipped out in January 1942 and served on the Atlantic. He was ill and confined to Chelsea Massachusetts Marine Hospital last March but has returned to duty aboard the USS Babbitt.

Butler heads to Camp Haan after 30 day furlough

Woodrow Wilson Butler and his wife Muriel Lutz left Denton on September 27 for California to report to Camp Haan. Butler, a Denton native and son of Charles H. and Mrs. Butler, was drafted three and a half years ago, trained at Fort Eustis and Fort Sheridan, and rose quickly to sergeant in the Anti Aircraft Artillery before his departure for duty on the West Coast.

District Pilgrim Holiness Meeting to Discuss Modesty

The Eastern District Pilgrim Holiness Church convenes next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Denton Church to tackle topics on modesty remarried divorcees church membership and divine healing. Pvt Layton Reported Missing In Italy

Washington telegram announces Pvt. William Thomas Layton Jr. missing in action since September 19 in Italy. Mr. and Mrs. W. Thomas Layton of Denton were notified. earlier a September 12 letter said he was hospitalized but to rejoin his unit soon.

World Cooperation Urged By Sen Fydings In His Denten Address

Senator Millard E Tydings urged Caroline County Democrats to pursue world cooperation to preserve peace at a Denton Armory rally. He warned neglect of global collaboration could lead to another war in 40 years and criticized disarmament and debt while stressing war elimination would save lives and money. State figures Roe and White spoke as well, praising local Democratic reps Mer riken and Neal. Governor O Conor did not appear.

Rotary Chief Urges World Citizen Plan

John Jay Shank of Waynesboro Pennsylvania, governor of the 180th Rotary district, spoke to the Denton Club on Rotarys Four Avenues of Service and urged world citizenship beginning at home. He said peace comes through Rotarys fourth object and outlined plans for this years projects requiring clubs to secure 20 cogs and coordinate with nearby clubs to reach 24 cogs.

Nuttle Re elected Director in Southern States Co op

Harry H. Nuttle of Denton was reelected director of the Southern States Cooperative for the district covering Maryland Delaware and Virginia over Delaware and Virginia rivals. Nuttle won 28 votes, Caulk 26, and a Virginia candidate 24. Voss was named to represent Farmers Supply Company at the Richmond meeting November 1.

Hubbard Murder Trial Moves to Annapolis Venue

Judges of Caroline county court ordered the Howard Hubbard Sr. case to be tried in Anne Arundel county after a defense plea for change of venue. Witnesses will testify in Annapolis while the defendant stays off the Eastern Shore. The note cites past cases of transfer due to violence fears and biased juries, including Buell Lee and Asa Wells.
