University of Maryland to charge $10 admission fee

College and 4-H teams from the United States and Canada will compete at the thirteenth annual Eastern National Livestock Show at the Maryland State Fair Grounds November 14 19. Bridgeville celebrates 150 years of Methodism with services at Union Methodist Church on Sunday October 25 led by Rev. A Jason Blundon. Morning program includes special choir music and district superintendent Rev. Roy Tawes, broadcast live. A covered dish supper follows at 5 30 pm in Fellowship Hall, then a sacred organ recital by A Stanley Douglas with a 22 voice choir. Lions Fry Pan to Feature at Harvest Festival
Harvest Festival Committee announced the Lions Fry Pan will be a feature at the PTA fair. Charles Willis said the Lions donate their services and the large pan, celebrating festival successes. Plans include tickets for selling homeroom prizes, chicken and fries, games, a Harvest King and Queen dance, and costume prizes on October 23.

Caroline County 4-H Council Forms Leaders and Officers
About 60 4-H youths in Caroline County attended the first meeting and approved a constitution. The council, directed to develop and coordinate 4-H work, elected officers for 1959 60 and planned a concession stand for the October 16 17 Conservation and Farm Products Show at North Caroline High School. The next meeting is in January at the Home Demonstration Agent's Conference Room in Denton.

Savings Bond Buyers Enjoy High Interest Rate
United States Savings Bonds rise in rate with a half percent increase on old and new Series E and H bonds. W E Unger explains that about forty million holders, with 42.6 billion in outstanding bonds, benefit automatically. New bonds earned 3 percent interest from June 1, 1959, while all E and H bonds gain at least 0.5 percent until maturity. Treasury adds a 10 year extension privilege for all E bonds. Holders should keep old bonds and continue buying new ones.

Retired Preston Teacher Receives Silver Tea Service
Mrs. Mary Todd Elzey, who retired in June after 47 years of teaching, was presented a sterling silver five piece tea service by T. E. Fletcher Jr. The former educator now teaches Latin one hour daily to Preston students. Funds for the Preston PTA were outlined with a bake on Oct 30–31 and an early December auction and book fair planned.

Bolden Convicted in Sept Slashing Case
Wallace Bolden was found guilty of assault and battery in the Sept 2 slashing of Emma Lee Bolden in Caroline County Circuit Court. The jury deliberated about an hour. State's Attorney James Knotts prosecuted and Marvin H. Smith defended. Sentencing deferred. Willie Stanley was found not guilty of drunken driving.
