September proved the calmest month for Caroline County firemen with five alarms. Four rural and one town fire, including two barn fires and a cannery, auto, and dwelling fires. Fire crews logged 100 man hours, 400 feet of 1 inch hose, 1700 feet of 1 3/4 inch hose, 24 feet of ladders, and 64 miles traveled. Loss estimated at 6335 dollars with 3235 dollars insured. Federalsburg and Preston each responded to two fires.
