Group Forms Plan to Organize Health Association in Caroline
Preliminary plans for a public health group in Caroline county were laid at a Denton meeting last Thursday. An organizing committee was named including Mrs. Merriken, Mrs. Brumbaugh, Fred Astion, G. A. McDaniel, and Dr. White. Miss Claire Burque urged amalgamating drives for poliomyelitis, cancer control, and tuberculosis to cut costs and duplication. Dr. Walter Johnson cited high Eastern Shore tuberculosis rates and announced a portable X ray program. other participants included Mrs. Parsons, Jerome Frampton Jr., and Miss Mattie Smith.

Ministerial Association Announces Yearly Meeting Schedule
The Easton District Ministerial Association reveals monthly meetings for the year with Rev. C. M. Elderdice of Easton set to speak at Brookview on October 14. Subsequent speakers include Rev. John E. French of Denton in December and Rev. J. L. Jones of Grace Church, Denton in March. other venues span St. Michaels, Easton, Centreville, and Greensboro. The committee also notes Peninsula Methodist Conference purchasing Booker's Beach as a recreation center. Committee members are Rev. R. F. Lass Rev. G. E. Leister and Rev. C. W. Branford.

The Northeastern Poultry Producers Council will stage its Tenth Exposition in Philadelphia November 6 to 8 at the Bellevue Stratford Hotel with broiler growers and exhibitors from across the country. Notable talks include future quality improvements by George W. Clendaniel, farm labor efficiency by Chas Williams, and a major broiler price outlook by Herman I. Miller of the USDA poultry branch. Special Broiler Grower Day is on November 8, and rooms are available at local hotels.

Chas Smith a chief yeoman and Denton native serves aboard the destroyer USS New with the 12th Fleet in the Atlantic. He enlisted January 20, 1940, previously served on USS Ranger through 1945, and joined USS New on April 5, 1946. He holds multiple theater and liberation ribbons and recently participated in a Naples air sea rescue escort to USS Franklin D. Roosevelt during a goodwill European tour.

The Maryland State Roads Commission advertised bids for a new bridge over Tuckahoe Creek on the Easton Denton road. The span replaces the aging structure and will be 909 feet long with a 26 foot roadway and safety curbs. Relocation will shift the road upstream from the old bridge between the bridge and Easton.

Caroline High boys opened away schedule with their third straight victory, defeating Ridgely by solid second quarter lead as Dickie and Pippin scored early field goals and Dickie added a late third effort. Goldsboro Boy to Attend Victory Convention
Goldsboro lad Jack Webb and Delaware FFA president Philip Pearson will represent the Delaware FFA at the national Victory Convention in Kansas City Missouri starting October 21. The four day meeting will honor more than 4 000 FFA members who died in World War II and will review wartime FFA achievements and elect officers for the coming year. The Delaware FFA has over 350 members statewide and the event will draw more than 15 000 Future Farmers from all states Puerto Rico and Hawaii.

Mrs. Thomas J. Turkington led Denton P T A through a tentative work plan for the 1951 school year at Caroline High School meeting on Monday night. Proposed projects include a health program via cafeteria lunches, film acquisition for the school, and landscaping. Committees were named for Finance, Hospitality, Library, Publicity, Membership, Program, Child Health, and Landscaping. 4-H clubs presented swings and a dodgeball for pupils. New teachers were introduced by Principal Conover Crouse who noted the shift to a junior high system with the first twelve grade graduation in 1951.
