Caroline High School pupils accompanied by Miss Genevieve Rugh and two students traveled to Baltimore for rehearsals of the All Maryland Chorus ahead of concerts at the Maryland State Teachers Association convention. Donald Watson represented Caroline in the All Maryland Band. Chorus director Lara Haggard leads the ensemble. band director Major George S. Howard oversees the band. both groups perform during the convention week at the Fifth Regiment Armory.

Fat Hog Show to Be Held at Centreville
The Eastern Shore Fall 4 H and F F A fat hog show and sale will be held in Queen Anne County 4 H Club Park near Centreville on Tuesday October 19 with more than seventy entries expected. Hogs will be shown in light weight 180 to 200 lbs medium 200 to 225 lbs and heavy 226 lbs and up.

Shore Soccer League Opens With Eight Clubs on Sunday
The Eastern Shore Soccer League begins Sunday at 2:30 p m with eight clubs including Denton and two newcomers Hurlock and Ridgely as opener hosts. Everett Townsend and C L Stafford co manage the Denton club with Tayloe Lewis as secretary treasurer and Raymond Beauchamp coaching. The league schedules 14 games per club using Shaughnessey playoffs for the top four, with season runs October through January across Easton Queen Anne Oxford Kent Island Greensboro and Denton.

Denton advances sanitation with sewer extensions and new connections to existing lines. Of 129 sewer connection violations last year about 100 were on severed streets 40 owned individually and 60 by two landlords. Individual owners largely complied and landlords arrange future service. Denton Man slain at home. Elmer Mansfield arrested
William Edge a 57 year old fisherman and Phillips Canning Co. employee of West Denton was shot to death at his home Friday night. Elmer Mansfield of West Denton was arrested and would be arraigned on murder charges. The shooting occurred about 10:30 pm and police reported two to three bullets hit Edge two in the back and one through the left arm. An autopsy was conducted by Dr. Dawson O. George.

The Caroline High School P T A held its first meeting in the auditorium on Monday October 4 with Mrs Earl Crouse presiding. Minutes read and approved. Treasurer Mrs Martin Voss reported 35.43 dollars for the new school year. Principal Mrs Hignutt announced 217 elementary students and 265 high school students, total 485 in the building.

The Denton Unit of the Junior Auxiliary of Easton Memorial Hospital met at Mrs. Dan Crouse's home on September 27. They reported on a successful rummage sale held September 24 and 25 and promoted the cookbook A Cook's Tour of the Eastern Shore. A bake sale was tentatively set for October 22 with chairs appointed. Refreshments followed the meeting.
