Seaford Symphonic Choir directed by Dr. Webster Schmidt will give an evening of sacred music at Union Methodist Church Federalsburg Sunday November 30 at 745 p m. The program includes Handel The Messiah selections and an arrangement of the first and second movement of Schubert Unfinished Symphony with Marie Schmidt at the piano. The choir formed in May 1946 as a non profit community group to foster group singing and build an artistic organization.
The Federalsburg church M Y F sponsors a youth choir program led by Miss Nicola Grady and Mrs. Andrew MacFarland. The choir has been well received at two public performances, the spring concert in Seaford on April 14 and a second show at Reho on July 22.
Mrs Susie Thawley 66 died Saturday in Memorial Hospital Easton after long illness. Funeral services by Raymond B Rawlings in Greensboro were held this week with Rev Hornig officiating. Burial in Denton cemetery. Survived by son Edgar Thawley of Chester Pennsylvania, daughters Mrs Carl Coubourn of Chester and Mrs Stanley Morris of Ingleside, brother Henry Gruwell of Wilmington, and five grandchildren.
Mrs Lizzie George Redden widow of Frank W Redden contractor died at her Denton home last week aged 87 She was the daughter of George and Caroline Phillips of Concord Survived by nephew Horace W Phillips of Hardeeville SC and Asheville NC and niece Mrs Joseph E Graham of Virginia Beach VA Funeral services were at her home by Rev John E French pastor of First Methodist Church Burial was in Denton Cemetery
