Ringgold Plaque Dedicated At Had donfield Stadium

A dedication in Haddonfield New Jersey honors Edward Ringgold II and 22 other varsity lettermen who died in World War II. The memorial plaque, placed at the main entrance of Haddonfield High School stadium, was donated by Mr and Mrs Edward Ringgold Jr and Mrs Edward Ringgold senior Denton. Cyrus D Mater accepted the plaque for the school after its unveiling by Mrs Arthur H Dunham.

Senior Play to Be Staged Over Two Nights

The Senior Play will be presented on December 11 and 12 under director Mrs. Orme after a script review. It is described as a lively comedy with Ozarks touches, giving audiences two chances to see the production.

Ridgely Remains Undefeated After 4-1 Win Over Denton

Ridgely Soccer Club stays undefeated in the Eastern Shore League by routing the Denton Club 4 to 1 last Sunday. Wroten and Rabbitt Spence starred for Ridgely as Denton struggled early, with goals from Joe Good, Spence, Holden, and Whitby contributing to the decisive 4-0 lead before Denton added a late score. Denton’s lineup featured limited backfield experience, while Ridgely added Johnny Andrews to strengthen the right side. refs were Weir, with Hill and Downes as linesmen.

Denton Bobcats and Kittens Schedule Thanksgiving Basketball

The Denton Bobcats host College Park on November 26 and Sadlersville on November 28 at the Denton Armory. The Bobcats aim to improve for regular Mar Del League play, with new players Legg Willis Moledoch Downes and Darling boosting height and speed. The Kittens also show steady improvement after a win over Federalsburg.

Denton Lions Club Marks First Anniversary Celebration

The Denton Lions Club held its first anniversary with Ladies Night at the Community Club on Tuesday November 18 1947. Members wives and guests enjoyed a full course turkey dinner. Ernest Smith president of Federalsburg Lions Club praised the Denton club for a successful year as Jimmy Snow and Company from Salisbury performed at Denton High School auditorium afterward.

Nursing Committee Meeting Set for Nov 25 in Denton Health Office

The Caroline County Health Association Nursing Committee will meet Thursday November 25 at 2 p m in the Denton Health Department. Chairman Mrs Harry H Nut tle will preside. Reports on Tag Day will be given and district chairs are urged to attend. Plans include replenishing the Loan Closet and volunteers for surgical dressings. Miss Helen Fisk of the State Health Department will visit.

Clothing Drive Shipments For Needy Europeans From Denton

Gratitude is expressed for a October community relief drive that collected 5 762 pounds of aid including canned foods clothing shoes candles and soap. Goods were gathered at the Church of the Brethren parsonage in Denton and sent via Church World Service to New Windsor Maryland for overseas processing and shipment. Contributions continue to be welcomed at the parsonage.

Bridgewater College Quartet to Perform at Local Church

Bridgewater College Varsity Women's Quartet will present a sacred concert at Denton Church of the Brethren on November 27 at 8:00 p.m. on a tour through Virginia, Maryland and Delaware with eight church programs and three radio broadcasts. The group includes Ruth West, Shirley Petcher, Connie Arbogast, Ina Mason with Ruth Weybright accompanying. Proceeds support Bridgewater College expansion plans Blue Ridge Hall and a science building.

Denton Girls Edge Federalsburg 35-32 in Preseason Fight

The Denton girls secured their first win 35-32 against Federalsburg after a tight game. Dean led Denton with 20 points while Noble top scored for Federalsburg with 16 as Denton overcame late pressure and scoring disputes.

Handicraft Exhibit At Community Club

An exhibition of handicraft and other house furnishings will mark the program of the American home department at the Community Club Denton Friday November 21 at 2 30 p m directed by Mrs Wayne A Cawley. Rugs loom weaving will feature Mrs William J Rand will exhibit woven rugs and Mrs James Harris will show rugs of other types. Exhibits include quilts glass figurines and other objects of art shared by club women. Mrs Walter W Sylvester president will preside at the business session.
