Invitation to Caroline County Kids Santa Visit at Dentonia
Denton invites children to a Christmas event at the Dentonia Theatre on Saturday November 28 with a free all cartoon show starting at 2 p m. Santa Claus will arrive during the program with a personal message and a free gift for every child. Dentonia Theatre, Denton Chamber of Commerce and the Denton Volunteer Fire Co. support the program.

State Trooper Activity During The Past Week
The State Police report events from Nov 11 to Nov 15 near Denton and surrounding roads. A 1953 Ford driven by Charles Cole collided with a 1919 Studebaker pickup driven by Urban Voycsik. Voycsik fled and faces charges of reckless driving, lights, and failing to identify. Cole faces reckless driving. damages: $200 to the Ford and $50 to the Studebaker. A 1956 Plymouth driven by Thomas Stanley swerved to avoid pedestrians, struck a utility pole, and damaged the pole. no charges. damage around $250. On Nov 13, William Maloney’s 1950 Ford pickup was hit by a 1949 Chevrolet stake body truck driven by Samuel Duvall. Duvall charged with failing to yield at Second and Market. Maloney’s damage about $150. Duvall’s truck undamaged. Chief J. Tilghman Whitby investigated.

Social Security Tax Rise for Farmers in 1960
Farmers face a tax increase starting January 1 1960 with the social security levy rising from 3 percent of the first 4800 to 4 percent. A 1960 net income of 4800 yields about 216 in social security tax in 1961, nearly matching a 272 federal income tax for a family with a wife and three children. Employee earnings social security tax also climbs from 2 14 to 3 percent effective Jan 1 1960, mirrored for the employee.
Survey on Choptank River Pollution Opens Oyster Prospects
State Health Authorities Eastern Shore Legislators and Tidewater Fisheries Commission met to plan an eight week bacteriological survey of the Choptank to test reopening sections for oystering. They discussed moving oysters from polluted to cleaner areas next spring.

Greensboro PTA met Monday evening November 9 with Mrs. Wallace Hutson presiding. Rev Father Leonard Mackiewicz gave the invocation and Master Ray Minner led the salute to the flag. Five members attended the annual Council of Parents and Teachers convention in Baltimore the previous week. Mr Vaughn Hutson reported it was worthwhile. A new water fountain was installed on the second floor. Mrs Dorothy Gardiner will chair the PTA supper and bake on November 21. volunteers urged. The Dramatics Club under Mrs G B Hastings presented Standing Room Only, timely during American Education Week.
