Recreation Leadership Course In Caroline County
The Caroline County Board of Education via the State Department of Education plans a Recreation Leadership Training Institute the week of November 27. Ruth Garber Ehlers of the National Recreation Association leads the program with four sessions across Denton at Caroline High and Lockerman schools. Enrollment is free and open to all organizations and individuals, with activities ranging from intro and musical games to dances, stunts, and weather friendly games. Leaders are urged to attend as many sessions as possible.

Group Donates 150 Garments to Caroline Health Dept
The Baltimore Branch of the Needlework Guild of America under Mrs. Henry S. Wells donated 150 new garments to the Caroline County Public Health Department loan closet on Saturday. The consignment included items for women, children, infants, and household use. delivery was by Mrs. Harold C. Nuttle of Baltimore, social service chair for the Woman's Eastern Shore Society of Maryland, in Denton. The gift supports the county bedside nursing program, tying to Miss Lavinia Crouse and her sister Mrs. Wells, daughters of the late Rev. T. O. Crouse of Denton.

Annual Report on Mental Hygiene in Caroline County
Beginning in October 1949 and through spring 1950 eight meetings on child and adolescent development were held with outside speakers. The series aimed to educate the public on mental health as it applies to youth and to spark a Caroline County chapter of the Mental Hygiene Society of Maryland. A March 1950 Federalsburg meeting introduced the Society and its aims, leading to a tentative organization and a Caroline County representative on the Eastern Shore State Hospital's Volunteer Services Committee. Mrs. Roger Medford of Federalsburg serves in that role, and the county chapter is active planning a membership drive and fall educational activities. Mrs. Frank M. Anderson of Federalsburg chairs. Long-range goals include establishing mental hygiene clinics for the county and region.

The Caroline County TB Association appeals for Xmas seal purchases to fund education, case funding, rehabilitation, and medical research. Red Cross Drive Starts November 13 in Caroline County
The Junior Red Cross membership enrollment for Caroline County runs November 13 to 22, 1950. Mrs. Earl Crouse of Denton is chairman and will visit all schools, white and colored.
Caroline 4-H Awards Given at Denton Banquet
At the Caroline Counts 4-H Clubs annual banquet in Denton last Thursday Miss Bessie M Spafford presented awards for leadership and service. Mrs Clarence Ringfold Ridgely received a five year pin and certificate, Mrs Clifton Crause Queen Anne a six year pin and certificate, with other leaders honored for three years of service. 4-H girls including Barbara Fuchs and Rita Ann Rogers won prizes, a candle service featured participants, and Oscar Schmidt of Sadlersville gave an illustrated travelogue on Holland while Robert Bechtold of the University of Maryland led songs for 238 attendees.

The Greensboro Baptist Church Women’s Missionary Union met on Tuesday Nov 14 at Mrs Ethel Thorntons home. Program chair Mary Dorman led Devotional Thoughts Go Heal and introduced medical missions focusing on doctors in Africa China and local care for lepers. The group urged generous giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and planned a week of prayer in early December with meetings in members homes. Next month the group meets with Mrs Wilson Jump in Greensboro.

Forty five children from Caroline County toured the Shrine circus in Baltimore on Saturday. They departed Denton by bus at 1 a.m. with three chaperones including Hillsboro teacher Mrs. Margaret Downes. Paul Croll of Federalsburg chaired the project. Denton Girl Scouts prepared lunches under Mrs. K Thomas Evernham. The Shriners supplied the evening meal and the group returned to Denton at 8 30 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs Zula Cherry 47 were held from Rawlings Funeral Home in Greensboro Tuesday afternoon with Rev J S Rittenhouse of Queen Anne in charge. Burial followed in Greensboro Cemetery. A former Ridgely resident she died Saturday at Dennis Nursing Home after a lingering illness. She is survived by her husband Orval Cherry of Ridgely two sons one daughter three brothers and five sisters.
