Daily Vacation Bible School opens in Denton
Beginning Monday June 2 a Daily Vacation Bible School will be held in the Primary School Denton with The First Methodist Church The Church of the Brethren The Grace Methodist Church and The Pilgrim Holiness Church participating Rev John E French will be Dean Wayne Wheeler Director of Worship Miss Phyllis Leese Director of Music Miss Martha Ann Ziegler in charge of Recreation The school runs 9 00 to 11 45 daily except Saturday and Sunday for ages 6 to 18 Registration 60 cents per person or 1 00 for families with more than two children Included are Music Bible Study Stories Art Work and a Picnic at Garland Lake.

Denton Chamber Plans Traffic Improvements and Parking
The Denton Chamber of Commerce met on May 26 in the Fire Department building with president E. Theodore Orme presiding. Dan Crouse chaired the Civic Improvements committee, urging 2 hour parking on Market street and bus parking on the 2nd street side of the Brick Hotel to ease congestion, plus enforcement of speed laws and a traffic light at 8th and 6th streets. A parking lot on 38rd street between Market and Gay was proposed, with the plan sent to the Board of Town Commissioners. next meeting is June 30.

Youth Camps Near Centreville for Peninsula Conference
The Peninsula Conference Board of Christian Education of the Methodist Church will hold Four Intermediate Youth Camps for 12 to 14 year olds at the conference camp site near Centreville. Camps run June 16-22 Easton District, June 23-29 Dover District, June 30-July 6 Wilmington District, July 7-13 Salisbury District. Unemployment Fraud Prosecutions Reported At Armory

Star hosts reception for Grand Officer in Maryland
Caroline Chapter No. 62 honored Mildred C. Johnson Grand Conductress of Maryland at a May 24 reception in Baltimore with about 225 attendees from across the eastern shore western shore and city. Attendees included Worthy Grand Matron Hazel Wright Worthy Grand Patron Joseph Steinacker and other grand officers. Blue and white decor highlighted a southern garden theme with blue iris white blossoms and a white picket fence. The program Traveling Through the Southland featured performances by Eight girls in blue and white dresses plus soloists and a minstrel act led by J R Hiser. A colonial bouquet was presented to Mrs Johnson.

Sussex twister damages farms and poultry in Milton area
A violent storm south of Prime Hook Creek near Milton, Delaware, damaged farms and killed thousands of chickens. Losses range from $75,000 to $100,000, with over $50,000 in buildings. John S. Isaacs and others reported extensive poultry house destruction, toppled trees, a blown hay loader, and a house torn apart. One barn fire in Seaford caused $5,000 in damage. The tornado, described by a meteorologist as a twister, lasted about 15 minutes and carved a four mile by 300 foot path through Sussex County before moving toward Prime Hook Neck and the bay.

Hahn Motors reports Denton Volunteer Fire Company’s new fire truck is under construction at its Hamburg Pennsylvania plant. The semi cab design mirrors the Lyons unit with a seven man cab, double booster reels, 500 gallon pump, over 700 gallons water, 1500 watt lighting, assorted hose sizes, foam extinguishers, storage compartments, coat and boot rack, and aluminum ladders. Delivery hoped before year end. cost about 15000 dollars.

On Monday evening 32 Greensboro Firemen took part in the Milton Firemens Parade and won a prize of 15 dollars for the most men in line. The department has raised 1115 dollars total for operating expenses of the fire company and band.
