Flower Show At Easton This Weekend

The Talbot County Garden Club hosts the Spring Flower Show at the Easton Armory this weekend. Public hours are Saturday 2 to 9 PM and Sunday 11:30 AM to 6 PM with 25 cent admissions for adults and 10 cents for children. Entries accepted Saturday morning 8 to 11:30 and may not be removed until after 6 PM Sunday. Exhibits include plant sales by commercial nurseries and florists such as A. Gude Sons, Eastern Shore Nurseries, and Lager & Hurrell, with prizes donated by multiple regional firms. Exposition ends with flowers taken to Easton Memorial Hospital by Junior Auxiliary members. Packages and schedules available at local libraries and shops or by calling Mrs. T. Hughlett Henry Jr. Easton 326.

Methodists Announce 15 District Changes in Wilmington Area

The tenth annual Methodist Conference in Bethesda Salisbury revealed 61 total district changes. In Wilmington District 4 churches saw pastors reassigned including A B Frye to Eastlake and Milton H Keene to Harrison Street, with several others moved to Milford and Salisbury churches. The closing service drew about 1,200 attendees led by Dr Fox and featured Bishop Charles Wesley Flint preaching on abundant life.

Caroline county voters face a May 24 election on a bond bill praised by local leaders. Elias Nuttle of Nuttle Lumber and Coal Co notes the measure funds needed school housing for five years. Wilbert Merriken, Denton lawyer, backs it as best financing for improvements. E G Crouse, Denton PTA president, says she will vote yes as schools need it badly.

Federalsburg to stage Old Timers game on June 5

Federalsburg celebrates the 29th anniversary of organized baseball on the Eastern Shore with an Old Timers ball game after the Federalsburg Salisbury tilt at 3 p m. Rube Walberg brings ex big league stars including Jimmy Foxx Max Bishop Frank Baker George Earnshaw and George Case. Autographs promised with no admission increase and fine grounds reported.

Scout Troop Leaders Hold May Meeting and Plans

The May meeting of the Girl Scout Troop Leaders met at Mrs. Blake Brooks home with nine members, including three new leaders Mrs. Philip Nuttle Mrs. James Hill and Mrs. Earl Crouse. Final plans for the father daughter banquet on May 20 were made and funds are earmarked for chairs and supplies. A Denton committee will host the Del Mar Va Peninsula Training Course Conference on October 8 with an all day meeting and box lunches. Leaders from Cambridge Millington Sadlersville and ChesTown are to attend.

Denton Ballroom Dancing Classes For Children Planned

A Denton meeting led by Mrs. Harvey Fleetwood outlines autumn start for a twenty lesson ballroom dance program for children aged six and up. Instructor Mrs. William Zieger of Salisbury will teach with three age groups and a managing committee to handle details.

Social Security Rep Visit At Denton Court House Monday

Social Security Administration representative from Salisbury will be at the Denton Court House on Monday May 23 at 11:00 a.m. The visit aims to help retired workers survivors apply for Old-Age and Survivors Insurance benefits, as benefits are not automatic. Residents and veterans' survivors should contact the Salisbury office by mail or in person.

Milton And Chester Town Unbeaten In Mar-Del League

Milton AC posted a second straight shutout and its third win in the Mar Del League as Chestertown beat Milford 9 to 4 and Greensboro topped Felton Vets 11 to 1. Milton’s Ken Mahan threw a four hitter with four strikeouts. Rock Hall’s Ben Royal allowed six singles and six strikeouts. Chestertown’s Orem Robertson outpitched John Mumford in a 9-4 Chestertown win. Miltons offense featured Becheler, Slaysman, DeLuca driving in runs. Chestertown, Garrett Grier and Mungan sparked the attack. Greensboro rolled over Felton Vets as Robertson and Milliard Robertson held Felton to three safeties.
