Homemakers Spring Rally at Ridgely Church

The Caroline County Homemakers Clubs held a May 7 rally at Ridgely Methodist Church with the theme Today's Home Builds Tomorrow's World. The event featured remarks by county and state officials, a devotional, music, a hat parade, and door prizes, highlighting Home Demonstration Week and upcoming state and national meetings.

Denton Rotary to Sell Beauty Pageant Tickets Tuesday

The Rotary Club of Denton plans a Tuesday evening sale of beauty pageant tickets and a free program to raise funds for scholarships. Ten Miss Denton and fifteen Little Miss Denton entries are secured. event stages, refreshments, and entertainment details are finalized for the Delmarva festival competitions.

Miracle In Manhattan Shown At Harmony Church

Harmony Methodist Church hosts a showing of Miracle In Manhattan on Sunday May 17 at 730 PM. The un usual documentary covers Billy Graham s New York Crusade with Jinx Falkenburg and Tex McCrary detailing 16 weeks of events from Madison Square Garden to Times Square. World Wide Pictures releases the film and all seats are free on a first come basis.

Mrs Palmer Elected Peninsula Conference WSCS President

Mrs. W. B. Palmer Sr of Denton was chosen president of the Peninsula Conference Woman's Society of Christian Service at the annual meeting in McCabe Memorial Methodist Church Wilmington May 7. The event drew over 350 churchwomen and featured speakers Miss Lillian Johnson and Miss E. Gwendolin Narbeth.

Peninsula Conference Speakers Set for Bethesda Session

The 186th Peninsula Annual Conference meets May 14 to 17 at Bethesda Methodist Church Salisbury Maryland with Bishop G Bromley Oxnam presiding. Nagel Elected President of Board of Education

Caroline High School Class of 1934 First Reunion

On May 9 1959 the Caroline High School class of 1934 held its first reunion at the Denton fire house. The evening featured a turkey dinner a band revival spring decor and a movie of family pictures. Former teachers guests gifts and memorial sprays honored memories with a final group sing and benediction.

The Ridgely commissioners held their annual meeting and reorganized offices naming C. D. Lynch as president Grayson W Winstead first vice president Henry A Fleming as second vice president K T Everngam attorney C W Guthrie town clerk William Gabler police officer Ross Simon superintendent of water and street Melvin Blades garbage and street service Lee Covey water works operator They contracted with Cook and Son to resurface all black top streets and signs and posts have arrived for naming and numbering each street and avenue This service will improve the town appearance.

Eastern Shore District Federation Meeting in Salisbury

The 37th annual Eastern Shore District Maryland Federation of Women's Clubs meeting will be held at Johnny's and Sammy's Restaurant in Salisbury on Thursday May 21. Accident Victim Dies Of Burns On Farm

Thomas Lord aged 37 died in Memorial Hospital after sustaining burns when a farm tractor overturned and caught fire on a Bridgetown area farm. He left a wife Elizabeth and three young children, plus a large family including his mother and several siblings. Services were held Monday at Rawlings Funeral Home Greensboro with interment at Ridgely Cemetery.

Spring Cotillion at Denton Armory with Lew Startt

The Caroline Cotillion Club announces a formal Spring Cotillion to be held Thursday May 28 at the Denton Armory. Lew Startt and his orchestra will provide music. Breeding Appeal Heard At Annapolis Thursday

The Court of Appeals postponed review of Clayton Edward Breeding’s first degree murder conviction in the death of Eastern Shore housewife Ruth Ben Cannon. Breeding, an ex convict from Hickman Delaware, was convicted by Caroline County judges last October after a three week manhunt and denies the killing.

Mother Daughter Dinner At Denton Fire Hall

On May 18, 1959 at 6 pm the Girl Scouts and Brownies of Denton invite mothers to dinner at the Denton fire hall. Troop leaders will attend and a Court of Awards will present badges. Brownies will have Fly Up ceremony and all girls receive Membership Stars. Projects completed will be on display. Troop Leaders named.
