Denton Art Students Win Honors In Exhibits
Denton School of Art led by Mrs. Nance Hall Asher earned multiple awards at two area shows. Mary Eleanor Duffey and Betty Merrick won first place in Graphics and Oil Painting respectively, with other students securing prizes. Vicki Moore gained Honorable Mention at a Delmarva Amateur Exhibit in Selbyville. The Denton Woman's Club held a May luncheon and approved new officers and district meeting plans.

Family Night Observed At Ridgely Brethren Church
Family Night at the Ridgely Church of the Brethren on Sunday May 3 began with a 6:30 fellowship supper. A. J. Fletcher family shared travel slides from annual camping trips while group singing honored family life. Paul Ebling family received top attendance, the longest married couple was 45 years, and newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harrington Jr were recognized. Danny and Darry Callaway, 11 months old, were the youngest present.

James E. Ward, a 1958 Caroline High School graduate and Maryland College of Engineering freshman, earns a place on the national Student Honor Roll in School Science and Mathematics. Ward starred on the CHS Honor Roll, helped Temple University Mathematics Tournament teams, and held student leadership while active in basketball, soccer, track, chess, publications, and drama.

Denton Boat Races Draw Large Crown at Choptank
Last Sunday's outboard races at Denton Bridge attracted a big crowd and top pilots. Races featured two of the fastest hydroplanes, Bo-Bo-Too and Gambler, owned by R. B. Baker & Sons of Queenstown and piloted by Alton Pierson and Billy Ruth. Winners across classes included Ray Jordan, Pete Crosen, Ray Cummings, Carroll Coleman, Hamilton Jackson, and others from St. Michaels, Severna Park, Cambridge, Salisbury, and Trappe.

A large Denton Armory crowd enjoyed the Woman's Club fashion show with Hess Apparel and the Clark Shop. Door prizes went to Mrs. W. R. Baker, Mrs. Carlton Mandrell, Mrs. C. C. Plans for St Gertrude’s card and games party resurface as a Benedictine School fundraiser in Caro line County. The event at St Gertrude’s Convent four miles north of Ridgely on Route 312 starts 8 p m Wednesday May 20 with card games and prizes for winners and activities for children. Twenty five Beauties Vie For 1959 Miss Denton Honors Here
Frank Gerhardt, Entrants' Committee Chairman, released two lists of beauties for the Miss Denton and Little Miss Denton contests. Nineteen names appear for Miss Denton and fifteen for Little Miss Denton. Chuck Mailetts will host the May 23 pageant with Bar ney Nuttle and Jim Cooper coordinating. The Chicken Festival is set for June 25-27 in Dover. Ticket chairman Howard Mezick asks Rotary members to distribute programs and sell tickets May 19. Proceeds fund two teaching-talent scholarships.

Movie And Breakfast To Follow Jr Senior Prom
Parents of Caroline High School juniors and seniors will host a movie program and breakfast after the Junior-Senior Prom on Friday night May 22. A planning committee organized by home room mothers arranged for a Dentonia Theatre showing and a post-show breakfast in the high school cafeteria, with both youth and parents supporting the plan.
