Md Educator Named Deaf School Principal in Massachusetts
Guerget T Pratt, Centreville native and Maryland State Education supervisor, appointed principal of Clarke School for the Deaf in Northampton Massachusetts to succeed Dr Frank H Reiter. He begins July 1 and is the school’s fifth principal since 1867. Pratt is a Centreville High School and Washington College alumnus with a Duke University masters. served in the Army in Asia then taught at Stevensville High, later state education supervisor. His wife Mrs Pratt, Western Maryland College alumna, headed Centreville High music and directed the Junior Choir. their daughter Lymm has studied at Clarke School and Smith College Nursery School.

Preston Labor Camp Rodney Scout Camps To Open June 10
The Preston migrators labor camp will open on June 10 this year per W. Carroll, chair of the board, to meet harvest needs of Caroline County farmers. Farmers should contact the camp on or after June 10 or Mr. T Conover Crouse of Denton. The camp, in operation for five years, is owned by the Caroline Labor Cooperative Association Inc and run by seven directors led by W. S. Carroll. Also noted is an outdoor session at Camp Rodney May 6-7 outlining the 1950 Summer Session Program in a mimeo booklet for Troop Committees and Scoutmasters in the Del Mar Va Council.

State bond issue authorized for school construction bonds
The Board of Public Works authorized a 25 million dollar state bond sale with nearly 20 million for school construction. Bids open May 31 at 2 PM. Greensboro W M U gathered Tuesday evening May 9 at Greensboro Baptist Church for an eventful meeting. A devotional on Publishing Tidings by Mrs Wilson Jump preceded a playlet Invisible Bridges featuring Martha Mrs Thurman Passwaters Jean Mrs Dana McClung Helen Mrs Nolan Edwards, illustrating how missionary messages reach foreign stations. The audience learned of HCJB in Quito broadcasting since 1931, growing from six receivers to fifty thousand, and of broadcasts in Petrolandia Brazil where crowds hear the Baptist Voice of Pernambuco. Other cast members included Mrs Roland Van Dexter as Miss Lee.

Caroline County farmers face marketing problems at the government loan rate for the coming season. A Easton conference with farmers grain handlers and officials of the Extension Service and PMA discussed storage space and alternatives. In 1949 Eastern Shore wheat mostly went to terminal elevators in Baltimore and Philadelphia with over 1 million bushels loaned at 90 percent parity, while Baltimore elevators hold about 3 million total with 1.5 million on loan callable April 30. Space for new crop depends on moving old stock.
