Turner Morris Sr a leading Queen Annes County farmer died suddenly at his Centreville home on Wednesday April 25 from coronary thrombosis. He married Estella Furbush in 1908 and Carrie Holden in 1951 leaving children and numerous grandchildren. A devoted dairying farmer with a keen mind and gentle nature he will be missed by family and friends. Funeral held at his home with Rev Bicking officiating.
Hickman defeats Millsboro 12 to 6 in a high scoring opener as Calvin Lane and Bill Newman lead the attack. Millsboro’s Freddie Adkins struggled early before Richard Davis and Bill Howlett limited damage. Rain paused play while Ed Holleger’s Frederica visit Hickman next Sunday to clash with Lawrence Cannon’s hitters.
Interment followed at Church Ifill Cemetery beside his first wife with pallbearers William Robinson Rayfield Tarr Jank Whiteley Charles Jump Milton Hunter and Thomas Pippin. The large gathering of friends filled with flowers testified to the affection and esteem in which he was held. Sunset and evening star were quoted in a solemn farewell.
Funeral services for Mrs Eliza Beth Werner widow of Dennis Werner farmer were held at her home in Tuckahoe Neck near Denton Thursday at 2 pm Interment followed in Denton Cemetery The 85 year old widow was daughter of the late John Ellman and Margaret Ellman of Pennsylvania Surviving are daughter Miss Matilda Werner and three sons Ralph Andrew and Carl Werner all of Denton Also eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren
Under House Bill No 518 of the 1951 Maryland Acts an election for three Denton commissioners is scheduled to choose terms of five four and three years. The date will be announced by local authorities.
Grace and Kitty Holland of Pennsylvania visited Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Holland. Baltimore visitors included Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow March and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Milford Kline among others. Mrs. Howard Dodds is a patient at Easton Memorial Hospital. The Hutchinsons were weekend guests with trips to New York.
