Male Chorus To Sing At Easton

The Clericus Male Chorus of Bridgewater College Virginia will present sacred music at Easton Church of the Brethren Harrison and Stewart Streets on Sunday May 20 at 2 30 p m The group comprises student ministers from the Clericus organization on campus and includes Merle Crouse son of Mr and Mrs Clifton Crouse of Queen Anne The concert includes a varied program with soloists Earl Atkinson and a guest group The event is hosted by Bridgewater College Glee Club and directed by Earle Fike Jr a ministerial student who leads the student body and has athletic background The public is invited to attend the concert with a program featuring hymns spirituals and instrumental numbers.

Eastern Shore 4-H Show Winners Crown Champions

Caroline 4-H youths top honors at the Eastern Shore Spring 4-H Club Show held May 12 at Pioneer Point Horse Barns near Centreville. Peggy Meredith of Federalsburg won Sr Champion Holstein female with Meredith Posch Rag Apple. Virgil Turner Jr. of Ridgely claimed Jr and Grand Jersey Champion with his Jr Jersey heifer Calf. Other wins include Guernsey and Angus classes with multiple exhibitors from Denton, Federalsburg, Ridgely, and Preston. Judges were Holstein breeders Thomas King and Allie Messer with Worthington III judging Guernseys.

Arthur Jackson to head Peninsula W S C S in 2-year term

Mrs. Arthur J. Jackson of Salisbury was elected president of the Peninsula Conference Woman's Society of Christian Service for two years at Grace Church Wilmington. She is the former Wilmington District president and succeeds Mrs. Harry B. Hygate. Officers and delegates were named, with pledges announced: Dover 6325, Easton 6500, Salisbury 7000, Wilmington 19500.

Volunteer Firemen And Auxiliaries Convene In Salisbury

The Delmarva Volunteer Firemen's Association and the Delmarva Firemen's Auxiliary held their convention in Salisbury on May 9. Retiring president Jos L Ross presided as Mrs Paul Singer was elected second vice president of the Auxiliary. About 191 women attended representing auxiliaries from three states. The 1952 convention will be in Dover. Local members Isabelle Beers Elizabeth Maloney Elizabeth Irwin Margaret Long and Hilda Lowe attended. Paul Singer and George Lowe represented the Firemen.

County Music Festival At Denton On May 20

The third annual concert by Caroline County high school glee clubs will be Sunday May 20 at 3 00 PM at the State Armory in Denton. About 230 voices from five high schools will perform under Mrs Jessie L Fleming with soloists and a massed chorus.

Retiring Methodist district heads named at Dover conference

Two of the Peninsula Conference four district superintendents will retire after six years in office at the annual meeting opening in Wesley Methodist Church Dover. Rev. T. C. Mulligan of Dover and Rev. Essell P. Thomas of Easton retire. Rev. Hamilton P. Fox of Wilmington and Rev. A. J. Jackson of Salisbury continue. Bishop Charles Wesley Flint presides with ministerial appointments to follow. Conference events include exams, trustees, and youth fellowship activities with a Barratt’s Chapel visit and Stuntz address to close on Sunday.

Bird Club speaker details and upcoming events in Carroll County

Chandler S. Robbins of the U S Fish and Wildlife Service spoke to the Caroline County Bird Club in Denton on May 3 about Bird Migration in Maryland illustrated with color slides. Bird Day observed May 5 in Caroline County recorded 86 species and 2300 individual birds.

An industrial survey initiated in Denton by Delegate John Wood Logan and the Maryland State Planning Commission aims to map local assets. Greensboro W M U Met On Tuesday Last

The regular monthly meeting of the Greensboro Baptist Church W M U was held at Mrs. Irving Ober’s home on May 15. Attendees discussed women undergirding gospel spread, missionary effort, and education. Reports highlighted Meecha’s Chinese conversion, Hindering war and famine, and global W M U growth including China Japan Hawaii Nigeria Italy Spain Chile River Plate Mexico and silent unions behind the Iron Curtain. The gathering closed with prayer and a brief business session.

Crouse Extends Winning Streak On Track

Bridgewater College athlete Merle Crouse, a Ridgely High School graduate, won both the 1 mile and 2 mile events at the Mason-Dixon Conference meet at Catholic University in Washington. He set new conference records in the mile at 4 23.6 and the 2 mile at 9 43.3, led Bridgewater to second place with 404% points, and earlier placed third in the Penn Relays 2 mile with a 9 22 time, seven seconds shy of the Virginia record.

Local B and P Club Prepares For State Fleet

The Caroline County Business and Professional Women's Club works with Cambridge and Easton clubs for the state convention in Cambridge on May 18 19 20. The local club handles the reception at the Woman's Club House May 18 with Mrs Alma Fisher chairing. Christian Comrade Class Held Meeting Thursday

The Concord Christian Comrade Class met on Thursday May 10 at the home of Mrs Cecelia Hoffman with Mrs Geraldine Foy assisting. Eighteen members attended singing Sweet Hour of Prayer and reciting the Lord's Prayer. They approved minutes and discussed a church bulletin board, ice cream festival on May 25 at 8 PM, and volunteered to acquire a board. The class planned a pot of flowers for Mothers Day attendees and reported a total collection of 26.95.

The W C T U annual convention will be at St Pauls M E Church Greensboro on May 24. Mrs Milton Taylor Delaware State Vice president will give a 2 pm message, Rev John Abbott of Cambridge will deliver the 8 pm sermon, with Mrs Chas Wagner state president present. Rev J E French and Gov McKeldin to speak at Shore College

The Rev John Edward French pastor of First Methodist Church Denton and Wesley Junior College trustee will preach the baccalaureate and Gov Theodore R McKeldin of Maryland will be principal speaker at the final exercises on June 3 at 2 30 p m The governor will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree French is an alumnus class of 1937 and served 17 years in the Peninsula Annual Conference of the Methodist Church with multiple leadership roles
