Notes From Congress on Loans to Political Parties and Steel Case
Senator Williams exposed that the Bureau of Internal Revenue allowed three people to write off most of 410,000 in loans to the New York State Democratic Committee. A Senate Finance Committee chair urged laws to stop treating unrepaid political loans as bad debts. Judge Pine ruled Truman seizure of steel illegal, while the court and administration clash over wages. The White House mediates talks as Murray promises no strike and to keep workers on the job.
