The Talbot Dorchester Caroline Womans Christian Temperance Union holds its annual convention May 13 1947 at First Baptist Church Greensboro. State President Mrs Charles Wagner of Baltimore will preside and deliver an afternoon message with Rev Frederick W Smith of Baltimore as the evening speaker. Smith, noted anti liquor advocate and Fighting Man, is expected to draw a large crowd at 8 pm with a call to temperance and duty concluding with an open public invitation.

Denton defeated Greensboro 14 to 12 in a high scoring opener. Hartly topped Camden-Wyoming 16 to 8 while Rock Hall blanked Chestertown 14 to 0. Felton beat Houston 11 to 5 as opening day games showcased strong hitting and bullpen use. Next Sunday Denton at Houston and other rematches highlighted the schedule.

The Maryland State and District of Columbia Soccer Association will present its first banquet honoring cup and league champions on Thursday night May 15 at Sears Roebuck Community Hall in Baltimore. Teams to be honored include Hasslingers, Good Counsel, Santa Maria, Reisterstown, Dizzy Pleasure Club, Pompei, Holabird, Holy Rosary, Ridgely, and the Maryland Scholastic Association all star team.
