Two World War II Vets New Shore Troopers At Last

Foreign Jamaican workers to arrive in Caroline County
Farmers who ordered Jamaican workers for May 1 to May 15 must sign contracts and pay a 30 dollar deposit per worker at the County Agent's office in Denton. About 50 workers are expected this weekend. Deposits will be refunded after the farmer’s last payroll is cleared by the Dorchester Caroline Truck Growers Association.

4-H Dairy Calf Club Organized With Feeding Talk

Man Dies In Flames In Greensboro Home Trapped
James Cosden, 70, a Negro, lived alone near Greensboro Station and burned to death Saturday night when trapped inside his dwelling. Neighbors saw the fire and could not rescue him as flames spread quickly. The house and contents were destroyed. Coroner Dr. D O George ruled the death an accident after firefighters suppressed the blaze. Funeral director Raymond B Rawlings handled the body. the home was owned by John Luff of Greensboro.

Spare stamp 49 in family ration books becomes valid May 1 for five pounds of sugar and will expire August 31. Stamp 39 expired April 30. OPA expects the five pounds of sugar every four months to continue, with another stamp on September 1 if surveys hold. Stamp 49 also appears in ration book four and in veterans sugar books.

Parsons Enlists in Armored Corps for Regular Army
Lt Preston P Parsons of Federalsburg Maryland has enlisted in the Armored Corps of the Regular Army as a Master Sergeant to pursue a career with the Army. He served as Transportation Officer in a Tank Destroyer unit in World War II and recently finished terminal leave.

Shoreliner Choptank to be Christened at Easton May 18
Chesapeake Airways plans rites for its second large Shore liner the Choptank at Easton Municipal Airport on May 18. The 28 passenger plane joins the Wicomico and serves Salisbury Easton and Baltimore. Officials expect attendance to rival Salisbury ceremonies last month with hundreds of officials and many Army officers and possibly the wife of a famous general.
