The Del Mar Va Rabbitt and Cavy Breeders Association organized this week to advance fancy and commercial rabbit and cavy production for meat fur angora wool and lab work. It affiliates with the National American Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association which oversees standards shows and exhibitions in the U S and Canada. First Lieutenant George Harrison Nashold Jr. of Greensboro is promoted to captain in the Army Air Corps while serving in Italy. The 22 year old, a Greensboro High School graduate, earned the Air Medal and led in the 85th Squadron, 78th Fighter Group, with leave to Alexandria, Egypt. His wife Claire Fisher stays with her parents in Frederica, Delaware. Two Nashold brothers serve in the armed forces in the Pacific and Atlantic.

Rev J H Thornton to resign charge after 39 years in ministry
The Rev J H Thornton pastor of Grove Circuit Peninsula Methodist Conference will resign at the coming session on May 17 due to his wife’s poor health. After 39 years in Delaware and Maryland parishes he plans retirement in Maryland near the Delaware line. He joined Grove Circuit four years ago from Queenstown and recalls many pastorates, hoping to serve as superannuate as needed. He is son of the late John and Anna Thornton of Port Harmon and has two grandchildren John Harris and Carolyn Harris. He is a Mason.
