Logan Heads House Committee
Delegate John Wood Logan has been named Chairman of a Special House Committee to study the advisability of enacting a state withholding tax law. The measure, backed by Baltimore City and County groups, faces opposition from small businessmen and the Comptroller's Office. Logan, the sole first term delegate on the committee, has held hearings and will present recommendations to the Ways and Means Committee this week. The effort aims to raise revenue by collecting taxes not currently filed.

Denton to Get Industrial Survey

Easter Sunrise Service at Garland Lake Leads by Schauer

Tuesday evening at the Park Plaza hotel in Baltimore Maryland Frozen Food Locker Association members heard National Government meat handling sale and slaughter restrictions including a planned meat rationing. Beginning April 1 meat must be killed by approved slaughterers or the farmer and identified with owner or slaughterer name on each quarter or smaller cut. Violations carry a ten thousand dollar fine. National Association aids local locker plants and promotes home storage unit use. State Health Board seeks recording thermometers in storage rooms with Shadowlawn as a model. The event drew 30 to 40 Home Economics teachers and Home Demonstration agents with demonstrations on meat cutting wrapping and packaging. Nine Eastern Shore locker plants attended. County Girl Scouts Visit Annapolis
The Caroline County Girl Scouts visited Annapolis on Thursday March 15. They left to reach the ferry by 10:00 A M and arrived for a day of tours including the State House and Court of Appeals. They ate at Carver Hall at 12:30 P M and later toured the Naval Academy and other historic sites. The group enjoyed the trip and hopes to return.

The Caroline County Bird Club formed on March 16 1951 at Denton with seventy two members from Caroline Queen An ne Dorchester Talbot Lancaster and Sussex counties. Orville W Crowder of the Maryland Ornithological Society spoke on birds of Caroline county with slides on residents and transients. The Maryland Ornithological Society has seven hundred members in six chapters and Caroline County Club becomes the seventh chapter and first in the Eastern Shore.
