Four recent enlistments were announced by M Sgt Joseph A Adams at the Easton Army and Air Force Recruiting Station. Clinton Guthrie Jr of Ridgely joined the Regular Army for two years, a Ridgely High School 1948 graduate who worked at DuPont Seaford. Richard Felgenhauer of St Michaels joined the Regular Army for three years, a 1951 graduate who plans to enter the Army Officer Candidate Program. Elmer Redden of Ridgely joined the Regular Air Force, a 1949 Ridgely High School graduate and sheet metal worker at Dura-Lite. Charles Nordberg of Preston joined the Regular Air Force on March 7, a 1942 Preston High School graduate and former mechanic at Beck Chevrolet in Denton.

Edward Wright of Caroline High School won first prize of 15 dollars in the American Legion oratorical contest held Friday night. James Himich of Greensboro High School took second with 10 dollars. Denise Maucere of Denton and Barbara Dean of Ridgely tied for third at five dollars each. Judges were J. D. Carter, Mrs. Clarence Kern, and Jerome Frampton Jr. Seven finalists from Denton Ridgely and Greensboro spoke on the U.S. Constitution. First and second prize winners advance to the Eastern Shore district contest at Washington College on March 20 at 8 pm.

Charge Use Of Illegal Players In Soccer Tilt
Chesapeake City defeated Ridgely 3 0 as the opening game of the State playoffs. Ridgely manager Jimmy Lynch protested to referee Bannerstein and the Maryland State Soccer Association claiming two Chesapeake City players wore different uniforms and appeared to play as Oxford Pa players. The association will take action this week and a second game is set for Chesapeake City on March 3.
