States First Game Warden LeCompte Dies at 72
E. Lee LeCompte Maryland’s first game warden from 1916 to 1946 died Sunday morning at Maryland General Hospital at age 72 after a coronary thrombosis. He built a growing State Game and Inland Fish Department, championed strong game laws, sanctuaries, and conservation efforts across Maryland.
