The Denton Volunteer Fire Company Inc Band invites new players to reach a 35 member total. Rehearsals run 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. each Wednesday at the Denton firehouse. Officers Irvin Smith director Harvey Fleetwood Jr president and assistant director Don Turner secretary. Regular rehearsal at 7:00 p.m. March 24, 1948.

The Seaford Symphonic Choir directed by Dr. Webster Schmidt will give a spring concert at First Methodist Church in Denton on Monday evening May 10. Sponsoring groups are the First Church senior and junior choirs and Christ Episcopal Church senior and junior guilds. Orme Named Denton Town Commissioner in March Meeting
A. Russum Orme was appointed Denton Town Commissioner to fill the unexpired term of Sherman L. Tribbitt who resigned after being elected Caroline County Treasurer. Orme, a Denton resident and local leader, served in WWII and earned a bronze star for heroic action in Belgium.

Girl Scouts Rally Draws 600 in Lower Delaware
More than 600 Girl Scouts leaders troop committeemen and friends gathered at Dover High School on Saturday March 13 for Delaware’s first mass rally. Twenty seven troops from towns including Dover Milford Smyrna Seaford Bridgeville and Felton took part. Morning activities included troop pictures and a movie. afternoon featured songs skits and gifts to Mrs. Thomas Russell of Smyrna for the Juliette Lowe Friendship Fund raising over 85 dollars for foreign Scout interests. Local clubs sponsored the event and Scouts and leaders were thanked for hospitality.

Eastern Shore communities join a relief effort spanning March to April 9 to collect clothing shoes soap canned foods seeds and dried goods. A truck from Church World Service Center in New Windsor Maryland will pick up items in Denton and Ridgely for shipment abroad. Contributions of money also welcomed.
