Good Friday Devotions At First Church

A three hour devotional service depicting our Lord's suffering on the cross will be held at First Methodist Church on Good Friday from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM. The program includes seven twenty five minute parts with musical interludes. Mrs. Margaret C. Cooper is organist. soloists are Mrs. Benjamin F. Johnson, Mrs. James M. Clarke, and Mrs. Charles S. Ankeney. Mr. French delivers the meditations on The Seven Words From the Cross. Everyone is invited to attend and come when you can leave when you must.

Miller Files For Congress From Maryland District

Edward T. Miller, Republican incumbent in Maryland’s First District, filed for nomination for Congress with the Secretary of State. He cited strong support from Eastern Shore leaders, endorsements by regional GOP bodies, and a desire to push for change in Washington to overhaul the federal bureaucracy. The statement emphasized duty to seek another term as a working member of the House GOP team.

Easton Journal Sold To Keep Publishing

The Easton Journal, a 17 year old weekly newspaper, changed hands last week as the Journal Publishing Company of Easton Maryland transferred controlling interest to the Talbot Publishing Company Inc. Officers of the new firm include Charles S. Todd as president, John H. Cook as vice president and editor, and Roy E. Walsh as associate editor and treasurer.

Ridgely Eliminated In Stewart Cup Race

Shore Soccer Squad To Get Olympic Trials

An 18 player Eastern Shore selection will face a county team in Washington DC on April 4 for Olympic talent, with state wide trials to showcase players. The Maryland squad then travels to Philadelphia New York and St Louis to form an amateur team for the US Olympic bid.

Mandamus Ordered In Denton Gas Station Permit

A Maryland Appeals Court ordered a writ of mandamus to grant a Denton filling station permit after a jury found the denial was arbitrary. The case centered on local opposition and the town commissioners failure to justify their decision under Article 23 of the Declaration of Rights. Marydel Lions Club Holds Charter Night Celebration

The Marydel Lions Club launched with a charter night at Marydel Community Hall on March 22. Physicians May Join Md Medical Service Plan Meeting
