Weekend crashes in Caroline County left two people dead. Carroll Griffin of Ridgely died after his car crossed the center line on Route 480 near Ridgely, struck by Claude Towers. George Burton of Seaford died when his car left Houston Branch road near Federalsburg, vehicle rollover. Robert L. Smith of Denton faced charges after a separate crash near Oil City.

The 4-H Older Youth Citizenship Tour took place in Annapolis on Saturday March 7. Twenty one 4-H members completed a State House Court of Appeals and Naval Academy tour followed by a Citizenship Ceremony. Warren Downs received the Citizenship pin and Bill of Rights Scroll.

The Caroline County 4 H Girls Council met on Saturday February 28 at 10 am in the Extension Agent s Conference Room with about 40 girls and leaders. They planned four major events for Demonstration Day Achievement Day Camp and Fair Booth and discussed forming a joint Boys and Girls Council. The four committees began planning the events and the next county council meeting is set for May.

Memorial Hospital at Easton will suspend the 3 to 4 pm and 7 to 8 pm visiting hours starting March 13 1959 for a trial period. Visiting hours will be 11 am to 8 pm with a 15 minute limit per visit and two visitors at a time. feeding times and critically ill no-visit rules remain in effect. if problems arise the old two 1-hour periods daily could be restored.

Johnson pledged support in Congress for hydroelectric development of the Potomac River and low-cost capital for the co op.
