The Caroline County Red Cross board met at the Denton Health Department on Monday February 26 1962 chaired by E Aldridge Pepper. Highlights included homemakers clubs preparing bed socks cushion covers kit bags and hats for Ft Howard and Perry Point hospitals. Plans for water safety courses and a program to assist VA hospitals were discussed with next board meeting set for April 10.

Maryland Wheat Growers Warned Over Excess Acreage Rules
Maryland farmers are cautioned that excess wheat acreage under the 1962 program will incur penalties. Noncompliance bars price support and payments, triggers marketing quota penalties of 65 percent parity and penalties doubling the farm’s normal yield, and can reduce future wheat allotments. Excess arises from not meeting allotment or quota exemptions, with exemptions capped by 13.5 acres or the farm’s top single-year wheat acreage from 1959-1961.
State's Attorney Disposes Of Several Cases In Courts
Vernon Leo Burkindine and others faced multiple court outcomes in Carroll County. Burkindine, 28, of Greensboro, had 18 months suspended and three years probation for contributing to a minor’s delinquency. he left home with a minor. Diebel and Jones were found guilty of unauthorized motor vehicle use. Diebel got 90 days in jail, Jones a suspended $25 fine. Denton’s Anderson received 30 days for disorderly conduct. On March 5, four more disorderly conduct convictions resulted in fines and jail for Butler, Warner, Hill, and Holloway. William Ross, Ridgely, paid a $20 fine for minor alcohol possession. Ring Younger, Virginia, fined $20 for assault and battery. George Isaac Hill’s assault to murder and assault to maim cases were postponed for mental evaluation at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital. case pending in Circuit Court.
