Denton Volunteer Fire Company reports 1952 honorary memberships and aims to match last year’s 2100 dollar goal. Donations fund ambulance debt repayment and fund safer fire protection, with reminders about safe distance from fire equipment and police reporting if necessary.
Denton Cub Scout Pack 265 marked Box Scout Week by honoring its birthday during a March 6 meeting at the First Methodist Church. Mr Holly Snow, Scout Commissioner, attended with parents as 17 Cubs earned badges including Webelos Ormond Andrews Jr the top honor.
At a Denton Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary meeting the oyster and ham supper was announced for Friday March 14 starting at 5 p m. Committee members include Mrs Gorman Henry Mrs Wilson Cohee Mrs G Walter Downes Mrs George Shaffer Jr Mrs Redmond Long and Mrs Joseph Holland Hostess chair is Mrs Benjamin Trice Kitchen inventory by members Virginia Rasch Harry Allston Gorman Henry Wilson Cohee and Joseph Holland Elizabeth Horst joined the Auxiliary.
Loretta and Murray Dranoff, a young duo-piano team, will perform for Easton Community Concert Association members in Easton High School auditorium Monday March 10 at 8 30 p m This is the final concert in the current four concert series They have appeared on television with soloist credits including the Connecticut Symphony and the National Orchestral Association in Buffalo and Rochester
Caroline Post No. 29 American Legion announces its annual carnival in Denton from June 13 through June 23. The post rents rides, owns booths, and runs committees led by Commander Harry Jopp and Chairman Harry J Hubbard. A prime steer prize tops the raffle on the final night as membership climbs toward a new goal.
The Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles has mailed all license plate applications for 1952 1953 passenger cars and motorcycles. If not received, owners should notify the DMV in writing with full name old and new addresses and plate number. Include title number if possible and obtain the correct large plate number from current plates before returning the form.
The Greensboro Lions Club minstrel review, co presented with the Greensboro School PTA, features Dr. Paul N. Biggers as master of ceremonies and end men Bob Kriss Bill Kriss Jackie Pritchett and Tom Wright. It runs at Greensboro High School Auditorium on Wednesday and Thursday evenings March 12 and 13.
The Caroline Historical Society’s first meeting on February 18 drew nearly 100 attendees at Denton High School auditorium. Charter membership goal is 50 with May 1 deadline. 1952 goal is 100. Officers and five directors to be elected March 13 at 8 p m, with a special technicolor film and colonial refreshments.
On February 27 the Business and Professional Women's Club of Caroline County featured Mrs. O. E. Roberts of Denton as the principal speaker. Introduced by Education and Vocations chairwoman Mrs. P. R. Fisher, she framed ethics as governing actions to maximize happiness and stressed personal responsibility to duties, loyalty to supervisor and organization, and support for coworkers.
Miss Sadako Nakamura, ex change student from Japan and George Washington University scholar, spoke to the Denton Rotary Club under Rotary International fellowships aimed at world understanding. She argued world peace lies in people of different nations understanding each other amid shared human similarities. Robert W. Downes Jr. organized an outstanding program for the club.
Heavy weekend snow postpones Dover Tournament games pushing the schedule by one week. Semi finals move to March 22 and finals to March 29. Opening night features Chin coteague Rangers vs Delaware Steel at 7 00 p m followed by Rocco's versus Denton Bobcats and Newark AA Yellow Jackets against New Castle AFC Minutemen.
Three men enlisted in the Regular Army and Regular Air Force. M Sgt Joseph A Adams USAF announced. Andrew Rex Werner of Denton enlisted in the Air Force on February 14 and is a Caroline High School graduate 1949. Rex farmed with his father. William W Wisel of Easton enlisted in the Air Force on February 14. Easton High School 1951 graduate, formerly a RCA television repairman. James Edward Beasley of Preston enlisted in the Regular Army on February 19 and was sent to Fort Meade Md for processing and basic training.
The Girl Scouts and Brownies schedule a Mother and Daughter Banquet for March 10 at 5 45 p m at the American Legion Home. All mothers are urged to attend with their daughters. A prior notice corrected a misstatement about a February Slumber Party hosted by Girl Scout Senior Troop IV, clarifying it occurred at Mrs Addington’s residence rather than Mrs Orme’s basement.
A total of 4218.47 has been contributed in Caroline County to aid the Polio fight during the recent campaign. County treasurer O. G. Martino reports a final accounting of funds received up to last Tuesday, with expectations of a further small increase as additional money is turned in. The drive was enthusiastically received by residents of the county.
Congressman Lansdale G. Sasscer of Southern Maryland, a Democratic U S Senate candidate, will headline a First District Democrat Club rally in Eden Hall Henderson on Wednesday March 12 at 8 00 p m. The public is invited for an evening with local entertainment and refreshments.
The Basic Scoutmaster Training Course for Kent Queen Anne and Caroline counties will be March 8 and 22 at the Church Hill Fire Hall Md Leaders from Chestertown Galena Millington Sadlersville Church Hill Centreville Queenstown Greensboro Henderson Preston and Grasonville invited The program covers Fundamentals of the Boy Scouts Patrol and Troop meetings Program planning Hiking camping Troop administration and Helping the Boy to Grow Training is conducted by trained leaders under District Scout Executive Holly Snow supervision.

Colonel Carl O. Hoffmann international lawyer and former OSS officer will address the Sixth Annual Tri-County District Boy Scouts dinner at Centreville High School on March 20 1952. Tickets are on sale. Porter expects a record turnout.
Albert G. Towers former chair man of the Public Service Commission and former head of the Board of Supervisors of City Charities died at his Baltimore home Thursday night of last week He was born in 1873 in Caroline county active in politics and served as state s attorney for Caroline County from 1899 to 1903 He leaves a wife three daughters a son and a niece Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Church with private interment.
