Parents Press Abduction Charge in Federalsburg Case
A 22 year old house painter is jailed in Caroline County on an abduction charge involving a 15 year old Federalsburg girl. Eddie Small of North Carolina faces the warrant by the girl’s parents as the grand jury prepares to convene on April 7. The pair were found in Smyrna Delaware where they sought a marriage license after conflicting stories emerged from police.

Legion Donates Toys To Easton Orphanage
Caroline Post No. 29 American Legion of Denton donated toys to the Easton Orphanage this week for Christmas presents. Legion members repaired the toys, distributed most to needy families, and saved leftovers for the orphanage. The group thanked George Chapis, chair of the collection committee, and urged eligible men to join.

Cooper Furniture Company led by James Cooper earned top regional status in a General Electric nationwide contest for the greatest increase in GE appliance purchases. Eastern Shore Slaughterers Face OPS Suit Over Registration
The U S Attorney filed suits against two Caroline County beef processors, Wilbur Breeding of Ridgely and Fred Monroe of Greensboro, alleging unregistered slaughter and violations of Distribution Regulations 1 and 2. OPS seeks injunctions and cites 21,191 pounds of beef slaughtered for other than home consumption.

Heart Fund Drive In Progress Door To Door Effort

Loan Association To Hold Annual Meeting
The National Farm Loan Association of Easton Maryland a branch of the Federal Land Bank of Baltimore will hold its Annual Meeting and celebrate thirty five years of service to farmers on Wednesday March 5 in Firemen's Hall Easton. Secretary-Treasurer H E Holsinger notes since 1917 about 900 farmers in five counties have borrowed over four million dollars. The meeting aims to elect directors and explain the financial condition of the organization. The nationwide system including twelve Federal Land Banks shows a net worth of 285 million dollars with 61.5 million in stock 99.8 million in legal reserves 24 million earned surplus and 44.6 million set aside for losses. Holsinger says this position supports long term farmer credit.

Mr. Walter Kerslake representing Tri-County District attended Schiff Scout Reservation the National Training Center of the Boy Scouts of America over the weekend. He was one of ten key Scout leaders from the Del-Mar-Vya Council at a conference on district operation conducted by the National Council.
