Farmers Loaning Agency Met In Easton Last Week
The Easton Maryland Group of National Farm Loan Associations held its annual meeting on February 24 in Easton with farmers and wives from five counties. The group finances mortgage credit on a repayment plan, retiring 124 farm mortgages totaling about $150,000 last year. Most funds came from surplus stock sales or outside income, not directly from farm income. The Easton Office will service 765 farm mortgages and collect about $350,000 in interest and amortization annually.

Driver Killed As Tractor T-Bones Navy Truck
Ross Vane of Cambridge Maryland was killed when his tractor trailer crashed into a Navy owned truck on the Du Pont highway south of Harrington before 4 am. James Oscar Williams of Norfolk sustained facial injuries. The wreck caused about 2200 dollars in damage. Vane’s gas mask load to Secaucus, New Jersey caught fire and burned with his body in the cab. The Navy truck engine trouble, Harrington Fire Company saved the trailer, and coroner planned an inquest in Harrington.

Man Found Dead In Marshyhope Creek
Clarence Wheeler, 64, was found Saturday morning in Marshyhope Creek near a foot bridge at Zion Colored Church in Federalsburg. Missing since January 16, authorities say accidental drowning with no foul play suspected. County Coroner Dr. Dawson O. George ruled death accidental.

REA Cooperative invites members to its sixth annual meeting on March 6 1944 at 12 30 a m in the Dentonia Theatre Denton Maryland. Mr Ray Carpenter of University of Maryland will deliver the principal address and seven directors will be elected for the year.
