Talbot County Horse Show Plans First Annual Event Near Easton
The Talbot County Horse Show Association plans its first annual show on June 28 at Barnwell Race Track two miles from Easton. Events include pony and horsemanship for children, stake classes for five gaited and Tennessee walking horses, hunter and jumping rounds, and a fine harness class. Proceeds benefit Talbot County Charities. Prolific judges from Maryland and New York will preside. Luncheon, limited ring side parking, post entries welcome.

Healthmobile X-ray unit to tour Caroline County July 1–19
Health officials announce a free chest X-ray survey for residents fourteen and older from July 1 to July 19. The mobile unit, run by the Maryland State Health Department and Maryland Tuberculosis Association, will stop at multiple locations across Caroline County with a schedule listed for each town.

Chicken of Tomorrow Prize To Trappe Man
Robert C. Morris of Trappe, proprietor of Morris Hatchery and Poultry Breeding Farm, won the chicken of tomorrow prize at the dressing plant contest. He sent 15 best cockerels from a 300-strong, 12 week flock, averaging four pounds alive and 3.9 pounds dressed. Fiery Poultry Farm Smithsburg placed second and Samuel Ahumty Odenton third. The Denton Recreation Association notes about 100 children per day participate in kindergarten and playground activities, totaling roughly 400 in four days. Most are aged 4 to 14 with kindergarten events popular and 6 to 9 year olds active in games. Badminton leads for ages 10 to 18, with softball basketball and football following. Three Caroline Women Graduate At Short Course At College Park
The Rural Women's Short Course at the University of Maryland drew 876 attendees last week with talks on communism abroad and the food crisis, urging U S action and world cooperation. FBI and Washington police speakers stressed home influence on crime. students balanced classes with socials and tours. Seventy nine graduates included three Caroline County women Mrs A G Gelletly, Mrs Juanita Turkington, and Miss Rebecca Voshell. Nearly 500 Marylanders joined Visitors Day for programs, tea, and the pageant, the largest turnout to date.

Chicks Arrive Safely in Rome From New York Shipment
A shipment of baby chicks arrived in Rome on June 2 via Trans-World Airlines en route to Professor Ghigi at the University of Bogona. They arrived in excellent condition as the second batch of US Pullorum Clean chicks forwarded by F. W. Bray of Buffalo to support reestablished poultry work. The consignment included Barred Rocks Rhode Island Reds White Leghorns Light Sussex and White Wyandottes.
