County Farmers Tour Two Holstein Herds And Silos
About one hundred visitors toured the Zeigler and Lister dairy farms on June 17 to learn their grass silage practices. Zeiglers built a horizontal silo under $200, filled with long grass silage, self feeding later planned. Listers feed grass silage with no preservative, keeping high milk output. The tour featured calves, a trench silo movie, and ice cream, with John Dietrich and Seaman A. Knapp coordinating.
